Tintagel...

Tintagel...

A Poem by Ahnjolie McKenna

Tintagel...

Above the rugged coastline reigns the castle Tintagel,
Bathing in the legend of its own Arthurian spell.
We traced the path unto the sea
Past misty waterfalls...
And as the cloud-like waves did swell
With precious treasures to expel,
Upon our senses love befell,
And to our hearts it calls.
~
The remnants of a love bygone, these centuries have spanned,
And found within our aching souls bright embers to be fanned.
Pressed soft upon our every thought
Remembrance breathes again...
Sweet destiny did love remand
To once more bring our hearts to stand,
Toe touching toe upon the sand
Parted by nae a grain.
~
As lightening pierced the darkened skies and charged our spirits sing,
We stood in wonder, newly born, our bodies glistening.
Resplendent in the summer storm
Beneath the breath of rain...
Upon my lips the droplets cling
Like tiny pearls, trembling,
Awaiting thy sweet harvesting...
Anticipations pain.
~
Resounding claps of thunder startle us from reverie,
But not before thine eyes didst capture mine with passions plea.
The wind blew fiercely through the cove,
And with it brought the mist...
My hand in thine, I raced with thee
Traversing rocks most recklessly,
As every living thing did flee
The storms own frenzied fist.
~
Hidden deep within the cliffs, true sanctuary we find,
Whose essence hath recorded all the mysteries of mankind.
The most secret charm of making
In these caverns safely kept...
Upon these walls, legends enshrined
Each moment of their lives divined,
Where past and future lay entwined
And magic hath long slept.
~
Certain that each step fulfilled our fate on scripted pages,
We pass through sparkling veils of rain as timeless images.
The thunder rumbles softly here,
The lightning not so bright...
So briefly poised on separate stages
As the storm within us rages,
Wild hearts in tender cages
Ablaze with passions light.
~
I quiver in thy presence as desires are undressed,
Soft eagerness beneath thy touch, unable to protest.
Fragrant and sweet as brandied peach,
I feed thy hungry lips...
Uncertain how I came to rest
Upon the sand, against thy chest,
Whilst gentle hands softly caress
With questing fingertips.
~
I turn within thy warm embrace and nestle 'twixt thy thighs,
I press my cheek upon thy chest and listen to thy sighs.
My legs hath bound thee to my love
And make my need full known...
For I am stranger to disguise
Preferring truth to feigned surprise,
And if thou canst not see my eyes...
For thee, pleasure is shown.
~
The dragons breath hath found our bed and blankets all the night,
Concealing our sweet passions play, yet echoing delight.
Discovering the past afresh,
As one we share our breath...
Eternity hath claimed the right
To join our souls in blissful flight,
For never shall our hearts know blight...
Nae, even unto death.

A talented piece of writing. Beautiful description and the rhyme scheme is not an easy one to manage unless the writer knows exactly what she is doing. I know Tintagel well. Have visited Cornwall on many occasions and of course was brought up with the legends of King Arthur and The Knights of the Round Table. Well done.

.......are you quite certain you're of this age? From where do these gems of oevres arise!? As in another poem I read of yours, you use "didst" incorrectly (it should be "did"), and some words fall on the wrong sylLAble, but your writing is phenomenal. Your rhyme schemes are evocative of the Romantic era, and are so challenging, that I'm utterly in awe that you've managed to pull them off! Un-freaking-believable! You are a poet indeed, and I honour you for your ingenious weaving of words. Well done!
