Alias

Alias

A Poem by Ahmad Cox

We put on aliases
Every day when we
Try and pretend
We aren't who we
Truly are inside

We give up a piece of
Ourselves each time we
Try and change ourselves
To fit someone else's mold
Or to fit in to the daily
Grind trying to fit in
And not be noticed

Sometimes it can seem
Easier to just go along
With the flow and
Never challenge your
Part or your alias
And the mask you
Put on everyday
To hide the true you

Ultimately it is better
To be yourself and to
Let go of everything
That tells you it is not
Ok just to be you

You are perfect just
The way you are
Every one has their
Own purpose and
Their own personal
Identity that wants
To shine through

Its when you let
Go of these aliases
And you start being
Yourself that you can
Be free of the trappings
Of the world and begin
To live life freely without
Any boxes or restrictions
To keep you from soaring
Free of the boxes and the
Aliases that control and
Restrict us in the long run

I love how uplifting this write is. That second stanza I really enjoyed how you worded that. Enjoying the simple title too, the word very much fits the poem and descriptions of people and our troubles to be ourselves in the world. Really nice write, enjoyed a lot.

good advice in this poem- sometimes it's difficult to decide which part of us is the real us. Is it the face we make on the first date? or the job interview? or the one with our best friends at the beach. Sometimes I wonder if like diamonds, we are multifaceted.

You hit the nail on the head. It gets so tiring wearing all those masks!

lol i find myself somewhat attracted to imperfection but most of all the imperfection that is not smeared with biased pretense and fakings if you are what you are who says you have to be normal it is a human desire but no one is normal so if you are you're actually fake

...Nobody is perfect, except Our Divine Creator,,''we are unique from one another in our own distinctive way'',,,but who are brave enough to face the reality of life?who wants to be wounded a several times?who allows the arrow of hate, fear, agony and death struck into us??no one can do it,,we can't let ourselves absorbed all these harsh reality that seem to hinder us along our way, that left a scar in our heart,,the reason is that,,WE ARE AFRAID TO ACCEPT THE REALITY''but,,we should escape from the chain of pretensions!!let everybody knows who you really are,and let the world knows that,,EVERYONE HAVE IMPERFECTIONS!!

.thanks for sharing Sir Ahmad:)i really liked this

Very beautiful. Said from someone that truly knows the reality as it is. There is one divine creator.. read more
Under-the-water I must agree. I'm a victim of this as well. We are afraid to be struck by reality, love, or death again and again. Not only a mask but build a wall to. Can't let just anyone in. Our guards are up to due our past, but I do think you poem as has positive outlook and you are so right. It's time to let go, be free of the trappings!

Very well done and great inspiration! Thought provoking!!!!

Thank you on behalf of everybody you have helped pull through.
its easier to live behind a mask because if you ever get hurt - you can just act as if it only damaged your mask - not actually you. its something to coward behind. i am a victim of this i must say. it is for the weak and broken because we are afraid to get struck or hit by reality or love or death again.

Unfortunately.
Amazing Ahmad :) YES ! you have to love your self the way you are
no one is perfect for sure , and every single one on this earth has a unique special thing that makes him remarkable and special among people , in a way or another :)

Ohhhhhhhhh Thank you ^_^ you are so sweet :)
I totally agree with this! We all must be who we are inside no matter the cost or hardship, for the hardships later in life are far worse. Never leave the trapped self caged, or it will explode when least opportune. =D
I enjoyed this smooth flow and how it really brings the reader to think. =)
