A Woman's Flight Chapter 20

A Woman's Flight Chapter 20

A Chapter by Ahmad Cox

She knew in that instant that she was brought into this world to help the people that were being abused and mistreated and neglected and be their voice when no one else would listen. Rebecca had given up all hope of feeling any type of worth and purpose in life and she had truly gotten to the point during her deepest darkest moments of depression and despair if her life was just one cruel joke and if she were truly meant to suffer in vain for the rest of her life.

She even believed that she might have done something in a past life that was horrible to deserve such treatment and abuse and torment and despair but most of all she was angry at her mom for allowing her father to reign and control their lives with constant terror and abuse. She never wanted anyone to have to go through such torment and grief. Even if she couldn't save every one who had been negatively affected by abuse she still wanted to help as many people as she could.

It was shortly after she had made that decision that she decided that she would never allow a man to completely dominate her and to never allow herself to fall into an abusive relationship herself. She desperately wanted to break the cycle of abuse and even of racial ignorance and bigotry in her family by helping as many people as she could that were disadvantaged in society as a whole What she didn't realize at that point was that she would end up repeating the same mistakes of her past and returning to the same abusive relationship she swore never to find herself in again.

It was about 18 years since her father died when she first met her husband. She had gone through a lot of healing since her father had last passed away. She had started to actually take control of her life and really find her center and who she was. She had managed to meet some amazing friends that really helped her to get through a lot of the anger and bitterness that she had felt for her father. She was even able to get rid of a lot of her negative feelings toward herself, and was starting to come out of her shell and stop blaming herself for everything that had happened to her.

She had decided to leave home for college right after she had graduated from high school. It was during her college years that she was able to grow and change but it was also the time she first met her husband. It was just before she was about to leave for college that she began to realize that she could never grow and change if she stayed there and she was better off leaving but at that point in her life she just felt stuck in her situation without any good way out.

Her old town just carried too many memories of her father and she knew that she had to leave if she really wanted to move past a lot of the issues that she was still dealing with. She knew early on that she she wanted to recreate herself into a different person and move past a lot of the small town drama and thinking that had plagued her most of her life. She loved Texas, but there were some things that she didn't agree with either.

She never liked the way that she had seen her mother and even her grandmother treat other people. She was a strong believer that everyone deserved an equal chance to prove their worth. She also never liked just how stagnant and close minded the community was as a whole and she knew that if she wanted to better herself; she would have to move. Not to mention Tyler carried way too many old sores and wounds that she knew she could never get rid of until she left. Rebecca knew she couldn’t do that if she stayed.
