Water

Water give us life

It flows in our bodies

It flows through our veins

It flows through everything

It's miraculous

When you really start to think about it

It's able to support life

Life wouldn't have been able to propagate

Or to flourish

Or to thrive on our planet

If we didn't have this miraculous compound

It gives life to the creatures of the sea

So that they may swim

And exist 

Caressed in it's life giving embrace

Everything on Earth depends on water

Everything needs water to survive

It lives in the trees, 

It lives in the sky

It lives in the oceans

It lives in the land

Through rivers

Through streams

Through rain 

The water flows

Filling the Earth with it's life giving power

And yet we still don't truly understand 

Just how miraculous water really is

If we truly understood

We would protect our water

And revere the life that the water sustains

But instead we dump our trash in the oceans

We dump our pollutants on the land and in the rivers

And we make the water

And the oceans

And the seas so toxic

That barely anything else can survive in it

We need to begin to respect the miracle that is water

And the life that it sustains

If we are to survive

Because if we disregard the water around us

We are also disregarding ourselves

Well, I have a thing for water, so I especially appreciate this.
I actually have a poem titled water too. But it's a personification.
I couldn't agree more with what you're saying. Water is a beautiful, powerful element! The way we treat it upsets Gaia.

I think your final two lines tie the poem together quite well. You are very right about your water observation. A large percentage of our bodies is made from water and we can only go three days or so without it. I think it was nice that you traced the path of water through nature and showed how it is important to all things.

Oh, I saw a minor typo in the second to last line with the word "diregard." I know you meant disregard, and that it must have been a minor slip of the keys while typing. Just thought I would let you know. This piece shines otherwise.
