I swoop down to get closer

To descend from the clouds

To descend to the Earth

My sharp talons grasp on a branch

I take time to rest on the physical plane

Taking time from the heights

To rest on the Earth

I see my prey

Instincts take over

At once my eyes lock on

I gauge the distance

My wings unfold

I dive

Streamlined

Efficient

I glide silently

Talons unfurled 

The prey is caught in my grasp

I ascend with my prize in hand

Another prize to sustain me

For the long flight ahead
