Older

As I have gotten older

It's amazing to see the person I have become

As opposed to the person I used to be

Insecurities used to plague me

I was afraid of my own shadow

Of who I was in the mirror

I thought life was a cruel joke

With me being the main actor in some tragic comedy

Now I understand that everything I have gone through

Has gotten me here today

That every step I take now leads me 

Leads me to a brighter

Stronger

More light filled me

It's with this knowledge

Now that I am older

That I can stand on my own two feet

And actually like who I see 

And not be afraid of my own shadow

We all become better or worse in a way when we grow, but I believe most people go better and better as we age... Years give us knowledge as a person and to give us experience, to make us conquer our fear....

I think we all struggle with ourselves at some point until we come to realize even with all of our flaws and even with all of the pain and strife we go through, we are who we are meant to be.
