Trees

Trees

A Poem by Ahmad Cox

Trees

Trees are amazing
Living sentinels
They protect us
Whispering
Hidden knowledge
To those who
Are willing to listen
Giving us shade
Air to breathe
Offering life
Wherever they plant
Holding each other up
Supporting each other
And everything around them
We should all learn
To take more after trees
And revere them
For the amazing
Life giving
Sentinels of the forrest
Instead of cutting them down

You know, it's funny how I get so many points of contact between the mindset you've shown in this poem and viking's symbolic system; according to them, trees represent the living energy of earth, as the myth of the creation of men in the viking mythology states (the first man and the first woman have been made from trees) also, since they join the three levels of being: hell, earth and heaven (all of them were very different from the christian vision of them!) they kept a huge knowledge :)

Wow I love this one.
First off, you know the tree in Pocahontas the Disney movie? This poem reminds me of that. Especially in this part here:
"Living sentinels
They protect us
Whispering
Hidden knowledge
To those who
Are willing to listen"
Trees do so much, with the air they allow us to breath, to the animals they help and more. I love how you wrote this part here, with how they help each other... and how we should do the same just as the trees do.
"Holding each other up
Supporting each other
And everything around them"
So true:
"We should all learn
To take more after trees"
It is really sad to see so many trees cut down and forests gone... where there once was a beautiful piece of untouched land with trees and animals, etc... of lifes beauty:
"Instead of cutting them down"
A beautiful and lovely poem, with a wonderful meaning.

Thank you. We need trees as much as they need us.

Very true, their survival is our survival!
Ihwas, reaching to the sky, connecting earth to the clouded heavens. I don't mean to sound like a hippie, but save the trees!

Very true. One thing: forest is spelled with one r. Other than that, nicely penned!
