Ossyria (Part 1)

Ossyria (Part 1)

A Story by Ahira Jen
"

Ellin is helped by a mysterious young boy during her visit to El Nath. Can she trust him?

"

Growing up in Ellinia may prove to be a problem sometimes. Ellin the Fairy has always resided in Ellinia back in Victoria Island. This is her first time on Ossyria grounds, not to mention it is a vast country with big nations such as Leafre and Mu Lung being a part of it.

Right now, Ellin is frantically trying to find Alcaster who resides in El Nath. She needs the all-cure potion that Alcaster specially makes to cure Rowen’s blistering fever. Sadly, her sense of direction may need some polishing…

“Ah bloody hell, I’m lost again!” huffing “I should’ve brought some winter clothes if I knew El Nath would be this cold…!” shivering from head to toe Ellin tried to use some of her Fairy Magic but failed. “Drats! The weather is really messing with me…”

“Do you need help…?”

Ellin turned around and saw a young boy somewhere around the age of fifteen. “You…you’re a fairy from Ellinia! Why is a fairy from such a place doing here?” he said with concerned eyes. It seems like he knows that most fairies from Ellinia tend to…perish from the extreme colds in El Nath.

“I’m fine,” clearly hearing her own voice trembling, “I need to find Alcaster…so I can cure Rowen’s illness…”

“You mean that old geezer?” While scratching his head he said, “He left for Orbis not long ago.”

A sudden sense of realisation swooped over Ellin. Ellin being the straightforward, kind and (fairly) weird fairy let out a shocked expression. “You mean my trip all the way here was worthless?!” she screamed. Unable to control her emotions, she fell onto her knees. Small droplets of tears began to form from her eyes. “R-Rowen…”

“Fear not! For I…” the boy disappeared into thin air before he could finish his sentence. Ellin looked up in shock, “Where did he go?”

“Up here!” called a familiar voice. Ellin looked up and saw the boy and he was flying! All she knew up until now that only fairies and a few other mythical creatures were able to fly. But the boy…he resembles an angel.

“Wait here, miss. I have a spare bottle of what you want back at my place and I’ll bring it back to you in lighting speed!” The next moment the boy was gone and Ellin was left alone in the cold winter snow again.

Ellin blew into her hands to provide some kind of warmth to her trembling hands. Moments passed but the boy has not returned. “What on earth is taking that boy so long? I thought he said he’ll be back in a jiffy,” she thought to herself “I should get out of here. I’ll either get hypothermia or get attacked by the wolves if I stay here any longer.”

Mustering up her remaining strength she pushed herself back in her two feet. After making a few steps, howls of a pack of wolves could be heard nearby.

Nice intro!

The fairy and the boy were very well described and fleshed out. In such few words you brought out their personalities very well.
The setting was well written. I got the sense that it was very cold and somewhat barren.

The only negative is that, because I don't know Rowen, I didn't feel any sense of urgency about getting him that potion.

All in all. Well done.
