Wounds

Wounds

A Poem by Agonizing Clarity
"

Loving one who doesn't

"
The hurt is
the same

Why do I
subject myself to this

Hoping you might have
changed your mind
about me

Maybe something changed
and you saw me
how I saw you

And after a few months
You once again
crush my dreams

so sweetly
discreetly
nicely

like reprimanding
a well-meaning child

or correcting a fact on the board
courteous
kind,
professional
sweet

that it stings more than
outright hate

because it reminds me
of how
I fell in love
with your heart

and how
despite my attempts
I never
fully
stopped
