Monsters

Monsters

A Poem by Agonizing Clarity
"

Words.

"
Daggers in the form of words
fall from my lips
entering skin with the speed of sound

I didn't truly understand the word
"Monster"
Until I saw myself from your
point of view.

Until 1st grade
when I heard my teachers speak about me

Until the moment when

Each time the word rewrote itself
and took a deeper form
manifesting into this destiny of mine
and then becoming me
I could no longer tell the difference
from their point of view
and my own.

and I continued to hear it for the rest of my life.

When self-examination reflects a dislike for the person we see in a mirror - it hails in a time for change! Your reflective write seems a sad poetic piece - and - the last stanza shows defeatism! However, in the very fact you shared this - lays hope for turned it around - all you need is the right encouragement - and - here's mind - full marks for a brave poignant poem -:-)
