Different

A poem about how our differences shouldn't be a bad thing.

I'm as mad as a hatter,

Cause I say different doesn't matter.

In fact I think different is good.

We should celebrate the things about us

That ensure we aren't the same,

Because if no one was different,

The world would turn grey.

And because a grey world

Is a dull world

Is a dark world

Is a world I don't want to be in

Is a world where everyone's the same.

Because when I'm the same as you,

And we aren't different too,

Why should I exist,

If I can be replaced

By you,

By she,

By them,

By he,

By anyone

Not me,

Because

We are

The same.

Nicely done. I could not agree more. The Global Village concept is all very well, but it leads to everywhere being the same as everywhere else. The same is true for people - when everywhere has Walmart and The Gap everybody dresses the same. International media leads to commonality of speech, too! Vive la difference!
