Did I ever? I've been in the throes of mild depression and inactivity so often these days that this is what my mind ever sees. But when reason wrests back the initiative, I find myself feeling a little more optimistic. A nice structure, too. Kind of like an inverted etheree! I'm myself a fan of etherees, and I've written a rhymed one a few years ago. Here's the link if you ever want to have a glance!

Thank you for this excursion into rhymed poetry, albeit with a depressing subject!

There's much to be depressed about these days. We can't do much to change our world, but we do have the power to change how we react to it. I took note of your link which should make for some good reading. When we're depressed it's good to take a look at ourselves from outside of ourselves through a poem about it, or through a picture such as the depressed yellow dog placed with my poem. When we watch or sanity, we have control over it.

I think this is how my students feel when I'm droning on about the joys of grammar... This is an interesting format that took some skill. Excellent rhyme, and clever wording!

Why don't you drive your students as crazy as that orange dog in the picture by having them write perfect rhyming nonets that make sense and produce inverted triangles. All rhyme words must also be perfect matches, and a different rhyme word must be at the end of each line. You may show them mine as an example.

Mine is the only one that I know of. There are nonets, but no rhyming nonets that use the same rhyme sound in a perfect match in a poem that makes sense. A near perfect inverted triangle must also be made. I won't be trying to write another one any time soon.

I didn't realize that the lines had to be placed so that they created a near perfect inverted triangle. They usually just indent inversely down to the last word.

My rhymes are perfect matches, and I only use a rhyming word once in a single poem. I also follow perfect meter. I try to do things with poetry that no one else ever has, things that some people would consider impossible.
