A New AgeA Poem by UprisingTaoThis can be taken however you wish. Be it a rap, or spoken word. It flows as either one.[Patient] Hey doctor, doctor, I’m not sick But can you help me? I’m really not insane so
please spare me the therapy In sickness and in health, my
voice speaks crystal clearly So, kindly please share this
one-on-one with me. Why do people get things that
can simply be refused? Why do people even take the
time to pick and choose? I guess we got bitten by the
snake called Greed, Tricking us into getting
things that we really don’t need We dig and throw ourselves
into a financial grave Thinking DAMN about all the
choices we’ve made Yet we simply ignore all the
visible pain and suffering Paying mind only to dead
credit scores hovering. [Doctor] Well it seems my dear sir you
have a lot on your mind So why don’t I jot some of
this down to pass some time I’m a very good listener, so
please continue. Don’t take it the wrong way. I’m not ignoring you. [Patient] It was over when Luther King
gave the speech of his life But that was the beginning of
a new struggle to the strife I’m talking the differences in
our every day lifetime. They beat down with slurs from
their one track minds Yet I look at the hypocrisy
through their ignorant eyes Setting a future for storm
clouds to follow soon. Yet they wonder why about our
impending doom? There are the ones who mention
God and the one-way truth Who shouldn’t prance around
and stomp their hooves. And the stallions roar out
with the neighs of Religion Put them back in their stable Who the f**k are they kidding? [Doctor] Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. Don’t go there, son. I’m a
Christian an- [Patient] Well maybe you should shut the hell up and
listen. They say it’s the end I guess we’re on the same
page. You call it 2012, I call it
the dawn of a new age Maybe we can achieve this
whole “peace and no war” And finally fulfill what King
and Lennon strived for. © 2011 UprisingTaoAuthor's Note
