A Night at the LakeA Poem by Aeryn L. Rose
The soft summer breeze blows across the clear lake. The nightly campfires light up the sandy shores. We roast hot dogs for our supper, And marshmallows for dessert. Families across the campgrounds chuckle As they sit down to play a game And enjoy each other without the noisy sound of technology. Here my brother and I can spend time Without the bickering siblings normally share. I worry not about the troubles in my life here. But about when I must leave this beautiful place It is time to go to bed when embers begin to die out. Somewhere in the distance guitar is being payed To accompany the peaceful melody of crikets Which will carry us to sleep. © 2009 Aeryn L. Rose |
