Paint (Or Lack Thereof)

Paint (Or Lack Thereof)

Oldie. Written after falling in love with an illusion.

Paint (Or Lack Thereof)

You painted me a picture

It spoke more than you ever

I could have sworn

I saw you make those strokes

Dip the brush in the paint

Touch it to the canvas

Smile at me

And then repeat the process

Each color was so vibrant

Each emotion was so blatant

Or so I believed

Because that's how you were

You told me nothing

Left me to infer

And I was entranced

It was a fantasy world

It ensnared me

My inhibitions left me

And I stepped into the painting

But I realized I was alone

You had stayed in Reality

So I looked closely

At the beautiful surroundings

Just as all the colors began to bleed

Mixing together

To form a puddle on the floor

Leaving behind black and white

And an empty canvas

You were gone

The brushes left behind

Unused

Untouched

So I picked one up

Dipped it in the paint

Touched it to the canvas

Smiled to myself

And created my own world

This painting would last

Because I never really needed you

I only need myself

I'm not really looking for constructive criticism. I'm not a poet; I know that. I have no interest in pursuing poetry, so it would be wasted on me.

It was easy for me to imagine the scene. If something bends reality this way, and remains a relatable experience, it's poetry. Relating something that has happened through the use of indirect, and possibly unrelated, illustrations is the art of communication, and that's all poetry really is... the creation of something more out of something ordinary. I like this :) I'm also just a casual writer who recognised the place of writing in a world of money.

Your field of study is amazingly interesting! Just thought I'd say that haha. It's special when someone shows life in both sides of the brain :)

Thank you :] I'm glad that it at least made sense. And I appreciate that someone else sees the world.. read more
Boring classes made you a poet and perhaps a painter too.
You have no alternative but to stay with the poets, the wordsmiths who paint imagination with the strokes of words.
Thank you for stopping by in this awesome world!:)
