Plea for LoveA Poem by Amanda
If I could find a way for me to show you how I feel,
I’d have to place my heart before your gaze as down I kneel.
All open to your scorn and as exposèd to the shame
That all around would gift me with as I breathe out your name.
It is the only thing that I can offer as my plea,
And knowing as I speak it what the chances are for me
To be the one whom you will take and honor as your love,
When other girls are gifted with such beauty from above.
Of all the things I own, all the desires of my heart,
The one I wish for most is still the hardest to impart.
To ask for friendship is so different than my one request,
For if your answer bids me go, I shall, at your behest.
My supplication is my heart; your name is my appeal,
You’ve taken all my life’s deep love; it was not yours to steal.
I understand you did not know just what from me you took,
But take a chance and look at me: my heart’s an open book.
