The Little Squirrel

The Little Squirrel

A Poem by Amanda

Don’t go, little squirrel!” I said to him,
But he looked at me all filled with fright
And took off to the nearest tree
And pulled himself up out of sight.

“Stay here, little squirrel!” I begged him then,
But he pulled his tail up further, too,
So I saw nothing through the leaves
But tree-bark dampened with the dew.

“Come back, little squirrel!” my last attempt
To bring the squirrel down from the tree;
But though I’m waiting for him still,
He’s never yet been seen by me.

My dog would love this poem. She is constantly trying to catch those nut-munching rodents. :) Nice little piece you got here.
