Once I Was

Once I Was

A Poem by Aerielle Louise

I’ll always remember, it was late in the morning
You were right there beside her while facing me smiling
As you walked slowly together, I was thinking, remembering
That once I was the other; now was left without anything

Once there was we, sitting alone quietly
Enjoying silence, escaping reality
But silence for me, isn’t perfect for three
Just the two of us, is all I wanted to see

Once I was with you through tears and through joy
Once you were admired, you were my dream boy
Once there was a diary, written with interest
Once we were writers, writing at its best

I kept on remembering “Once I was”
When both of us believed that there’s something between us
I hoped for something that’ll never do last
Now that it’s over, have to forget the past

Once upon a time I was the one
Now is the time, it’s all gone
Together we’re here on the same jeepney
Hardly controlling all my insanity

It was a long time when “Once I was”
“I am” Is present and “I was” is for past
Yet I am still and I will always will
Learn from the fall once made me ill
