An Angel Cometh

An Angel Cometh

"

The blackness overcomes him but where will it take him?

"

He felt the room gradually fade away to blackness. Eventually even the light of the laptop disappeared, but before it did, he pressed the send button on his phone, sending the text message he had prepared to a small number of recipients.

The blackness began to lessen.

“F**k! It isn't working!” he swore to himself in his own mind. Surely he had taken enough Ketamine to down a whole herd of horses, and enough alcohol to ensure their effectiveness, yet he could still see. Wispy blue smoke formed all around him, the floor appeared, although there was no light to be seen, merely the reflections of the light the smoke was emitting.

His vision cleared more and more and the clouds of smoke took on more definition, if it is possible for something as unsubstantial as clouds to do such a thing.

In the distance he could make out a form. It was human shaped. Had he been found by someone? Had someone received his text and rushed to his home to try to revive him?

Surely that wasn't possible. The nearest of the people he had text was over 100 miles away! Maybe the pills had sent him into some sort of a coma? Had he simply blacked out and vomited before any of the drugs could be ingested into his system?

He looked around the room. Well It wasn’t much of a room as he couldn't make out either a ceiling or walls, and there was nothing familiar about it. There was no sign of any of his furniture. Even the chair he was seated in was not the one he had been in before.

The form moved closer, slowly gaining more definition. It was definitely human in shape and as it came closer he began to see the lines of its body… not only was it human, but female! All the curves in all the right places.

There was however something very familiar about the shape, about this woman who was approaching. She appeared to be naked although she wasn't. She was wearing a black one piece body suit which hugged her form and seemed to not even be there,

As she got closer her face features began to become visible and if he hadn't already been dead, (he hoped) he would have dropped on the spot of a coronary.

“Jessica! W-w-what are you doing here!”

His mind was a whirl. Had it worked? Was the last image he saw as the light faded from his life now going to be with him for all eternity?

She approached him and pressed her lips gently to his. A jolt of electricity passed from her lips into his and spread and grew inside his body. His strength slowly returned as he felt the spark course through his nervous system. Growing and it felt like the life he had extinguished had returned to him.

“Chris, you know how you always told me how there was something about me. Something you couldn't quite put your finger on?”

He could only nod in confirmation, his senses were still scrambled.

“Well there was a reason for that. I will explain more soon, but for now please rest.”

She smiled warmly at him. A smile he had seen more times than he could count. A smile that always warmed his heart and brought out his own smile. As she turned away her eyes remained connected to his and her smile grew and the last thing he remembered as he drifted in to the most peaceful sleep he had ever known was the warm feeling, the feeling that he must have done something right, for he was now in heaven and she was his own personal angel.

Wow great literature! I am surely impressed by your technique in imagery, something that I could really learn. I also enjoy your style as well, it has a poetic feel to it. Though I would suggest that you inform who's speaking with the dialogue, it can be confusing if more than one character is involved. I look forward to reading more!
