Follow Me Into The DarkA Poem by Adventureseeker1The unexpected parts of my job that happen a couple times a month. As I enter your room, I am unaware of what I will find. There you were, your skin cold and frail. I approached you, still unaware Until I touched your hand, desolation surrounded you. I fumbled to find a pulse, a breath of air, a sense of life. There was none. I was holding in my hand, part of a lifeless body. I stepped back, called your name, shook you gently. Your head fell from upright, dangling. I pulled the blankets and couldn't believe, The color purple had never looked so bland, Your feet turned inward and ponderous But for you, there was no more pain.
