Follow Me Into The Dark

Follow Me Into The Dark

A Poem by Adventureseeker1
"

The unexpected parts of my job that happen a couple times a month.

"
As I enter your room, I am unaware of what I will find.
There you were, your skin cold and frail.
I approached you, still unaware
Until I touched your hand, desolation surrounded you.

I fumbled to find a pulse, a breath of air, a sense of life.
There was none. I was holding in my hand, part of a lifeless body.
I stepped back, called your name, shook you gently.
Your head fell from upright, dangling.

I pulled the blankets and couldn't believe,
The color purple had never looked so bland,
Your feet turned inward and ponderous
But for you, there was no more pain.

My job is very challenging, it's hard to say but death has become a normal part of my job. I feel for everyone of my residents who pass away but I try not to get too attached since these things happen in my facility everyday. Thank you for your feedback.

I think your job is the most difficult then, it's extremely hard to seesome who has lost his life and lying cold dead. You might be a brave girl to do such work.
