A state of no return

A state of no return

A Poem by Christian Renz

From my mother's sleep I fell into the State.
A state of pain that keeps me down.
Pinned to earth like caged harpies.
Pull me free! Loosen my bonds.
A state of adrenaline  where nothing seems right.
A labyrinth of emotions, twisting and wrenching.
Lead me out! Take my hand.
A state of tension, tight as Apollo’s bow.
Straining against it all, clawing my way up.
Loosen their grip! Replace it with your’s.
From my mother’s sleep, I fell into the state.
The state of no return.
