Unfinished Story

A Story by Adrean Pinder
"

Its an unfinished love story i started months ago that i recently just edited idk where im going with the story yet but this is what i have so far....please leave criticism and tell me what you think!

"
I stood in my best friend Catherine's kitchen while her and her brother, Damien, exchanged laughs and jokes. It was always a good time hanging out with them. Damien opened the fridge and searched for something to eat. I studied him while he did. I admired his facial structure, his jawline was sharp and chiseled. I looked him up and down, my eyes tracing each detail of his structured, built body. He was tall. His light blue denim jeans weren't too loose or too tight on him. His shirt hugged all his muscles in the right way. I couldn't take my eyes off him.

"Angie!" Catherine blurted out.
" Hm?" i say, turning around to her. I suddenly snapped out of the trance i was in.
"I was trying to ask you if you wanted something from the store. I'm going to pick up some detergent. Unless you wanna come with? You look like you need some air anyway. You were just out of it" she says, squinting at me.
"Oh, no, sorry I'm just..a little tired that's all." I say looking down at the floor.
I figured you were, from your loud snoring last night." she chuckles.
I looked over at Catherine's brother to see if he heard her. Luckily he was too into fixing himself some leftovers. "Cat!" I say, embarrassed. i hated when she brought up my snoring. "Do you ALWAYS have to bring that up?"
She laughs. "Ang, relax. A lot of people snore. Its normal. I mean for an old man anyway." she jokes. I shove her and roll my eyes.
"Not funny.” I say, pointing my finger at her.
“Okay, okay I'm sorry.” she says. “ Now are you coming with me or what? I mean come on.You cant sit in this boring apartment all day.”
“Says who?”
She gives me a look.
“I'm joking. I'm gunna get in the shower.” I say walking to the bathroom.
She nods while she walks into the kitchen. As I walk to her bathroom I see her brother, Damien, walking towards my way. My heart beat speeds up. I thought he was still in the kitchen. As we pass eachother I could feel his eyes on me and I started to get hot. I smiled and looked down. I was too nervous to look him in the eyes. Even though I knew they were beautiful. They were a mixture of blue and green, which happened to be my two favorite colors. I make my way to the bathroom and let out a huge breath. Why can't I just walk past him like a normal human being?

"Ready?" Catherine asks as I walk into the living room. She's wearing a burgundy sweater and skinny jeans that hugged her curves. She had an hour glass kind of stomach and a wide pair of hips. I was always jealous of her body. She had on short beige colored suede boots with a thick 2 inch heel and laces. I always admired her style, too. Her hair was a dark brunette and it stopped a little past her shoulders. She had it parted down the middle.
"Yeah i just have to put my shoes on and flat iron my hair." I figured i would just put on my plain black leather boots with the zipper on the side. I had on a long sleeved brown shirt with light blue denim jeans.
"Don't be long were only going to the store." she points out.
"Okay I won't" I say, walking to the bathroom to flat iron my hair. All of a sudden I heard a knock on the door. I look behind me in the mirror to see Damien leaning in the door way with his arms crossed smiling. His dimples always seemed to make me nervous.
"I dont mean to interrupt," he says. "But I just need to grab something in the cabinet behind the mirror real quick."
"Oh, no problem, go ahead." I say, my voice shaky. He reaches in the cabinet and his arm brushed against mine. I felt a chill go up my arm and travel through my whole body.
"Sorry about that." he says, his voice deep.
"It's okay." I say with a half smile. I still couldn't find myself to look him in the eyes.
I finished my hair and put on my boots and threw on my blue sweater and headed out the door with Catherine. We are silent at first, when we get outside but, as always, she breaks the silence. “So where are you and Jay going tonight?”
I almost forgot about my date with my boyfriend tonight. “Oh, We’re just going to the movies. Nothing big. Nothing special.” I say, shrugging.
“I’m pretty sure any date is special. Any time your boyfriend takes you out, it’s a big deal.”
“Yeah, I guess.” I say looking down at my feet.
“Why the long face? You should be excited. You’re usually excited about going on a date with Jay.”
“No, I am it’s just...I don’t know i guess I'm just not feeling up to it this time. I mean I just seen him the other day. No offense but sometimes I need a break from him, you know?”
Catherine looks at me as if I had three heads. “ A break? From your boyfriend? You should be lucky you get to see him.”
“I know, I am. It’s just...maybe it would be good for us to wait a little longer to see eachother again.” I stuff my hands in my sweater pockets. We cross the street.
“Okay...whatever you say, Ang. Just don’t complain to me when you miss him.” she says.
I laugh. “Trust me, I won't” As long as I was living at Catherine's apartment, with Damien there, my mind would be pretty occupied.

We get back to the apartment and I plop down on her couch. “Why don’t you put in a movie while I do some laundry?” She yells from her room.
I get up and walk to her DVD shelf. She must have about a thousand DVDs. I was kind of in the mood for a romance movie. I mean who am i kidding, I always am. I love romance movies. I always wanted my life to be like one. Without any tragic endings anyway. I searched for a romance flick.Chances are, I already watched most of them. So my eyes wandered across the shelf to find one I didn’t already see. As I was searching, I felt a hand on my shoulder. “Need help?” A deep voice said behind me. I turned around to see Damien, 6 feet 2, towering over me, broad shoulders toned muscles, standing barely an inch a way from me. Being so close to him made me feel like I was suffocating. His presence was overwhelming. And suddenly I found it hard to breathe. I could barely get my response out.
“Um...Y-yeah. I was..looking f-for a romance flick. I choked on my words. I looked at the floor and then up at him again. His eyes were aquamarine. I felt like I was looking into an ocean and I felt a rush.
“Any one in particular?” he said with a smirk. I could feel my face getting warm. I tried not to look at his dimples.
“No, I’m, uh...just trying to find one i haven’t seen already.” My heart was about to beat out of my chest.
He rubs his chin. “hmm..I think i can help you with that. He looks across the shelf and take one out. “Have you seen this one?” He holds up a DVD titled, ‘Love Actually’.
I swallow. “No I haven't," I say.
“Well it’s a pretty good movie. So I’ve heard. Not that i watched it before or anything” he says looking down, smiling.
I manage to smile back. “Well uh, thanks for the recommendation.” I say, taking the DVD from him. I notice how big and strong his hands are. I put the DVD on the coffee table.
“Anytime. Hey, let me know if you liked it.” He smiles at me and i nod.
“I will.” I say. He turns and walks away and i watch him. There was something I liked about the way he walked. It was casual yet sexy.
I caught myself watching him and looked away. I suddenly remembered about my date with Jay. I had to call him and cancel the date. He would be disappointed but im sure he would understand why waiting a little bit longer to see eachother could be good for us.I hope. Besides, i needed a break from him.
I called Jay and canceled our date. After I got off the phone I plopped on the couch. He was disappointed but he understood and said he would miss me but he would be okay. "As long as it made our love stronger," he said on the phone.
Catherine walked into the living room. “Okay. I finished my laundry. Did you find a movie?” she asks. I nodded and handed her the DVD on the coffee table. She looked at it and smiled.”I think you’ll like this one.”
I smiled back. “I think so too.”

The next morning me and Catherine wake up around 7 am for our early morning jogs. My alarm wakes me up and i get out of bed, half asleep. I could barely open my eyes. I drag myself to the bathroom to shower. When i walk to the bathroom sink i hear an "OH MY GOD" next to me. I had realized i walked in on someone. I opened my eyes to see that that someone was Damien, standing over the toilet. I had walked in on him peeing. I could not be more embarrassed.
"Oh God, I'm so sorry!" I say rushing out the bathroom with both hands covering my eyes. "I, I didn't see you. I'm sooo sorry!" I didn't know what else to do but apologize. He probably thinks I'm an idiot. A blind idiot.
"No, No. It's fine. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have had the door open. Bad habit." he says, shaking his head and looking at the floor. He chuckles."It's safe to look now."
I finally uncovered my hands from my eyes and turn around to face him and see him shirtless with plaid pajama pants. His body was amazing. His six pack was practically bulging out his stomach and his chest looked rock hard. His arms were muscular and for a second I imagined how they would feel around me. "It's okay." I say, exhaling. I was relieved that i wasn't the only one to blame for this embarrassing moment.
He smirks. "Listen," he says, "I don't want us running into eachother like this to be our only way of talking. I know you're my sisters best friend and this might be weird but if you're going to be living here we might as well get to know eachother better. Do you wanna hang out later, just me and you, at the diner or something?"
A huge smile spread across my face. "Sure, yeah we can do that." I felt guilty for a minute because i was making plans with another guy after i had just canceled my date with Jay. But this wasn't really a date. It would just be a girl and her roommate, getting to know eachother better. I mean, just a girl and her extremely attractive roommate. No big deal right?

"So you're going on a date with my brother?" Catherine says when i told her about me and Damien. We were sitting on a bench in the park and were taking a break from jogging. She almost spit out her water when i told her about my embarrassing morning walking in on him.
"No it's not a date. It's simply just a girl and her roommate getting to know eachother better. That's all."
"I mean, I hope that's all that is." she says under her breath.
"And what's THAT supposed to mean?"
"I just hope you don't have TOO much fun. You know, start catching feelings for him." She says. She takes a sip of her water and looks over at the kids on the playground.
"Okay, now you're just being ridiculous. I have a boyfriend. Besides, like I said, we're just hanging out. Nothing more." I gulp down almost half my water bottle.
"I'm just saying. He has a way with his charm and good looks. He used them on a lot of girls. And not all of them were single. Girls give in to him just like that. Just don't fall into the trap."
"Trust me, I'm not like that. I have self control. I have no feelings towards him."
But i didn't know who i was trying to convince, her or myself.

Damien and i arrive at the local diner around one in the afternoon. We find a booth by the window and sit facing eachother. The waiter arrives and asks what we want to drink. "Hot chocolate" Damien and i both answer at the same time. We both laugh and look at eachother and the waiter smiles and jots down in her notepad and walks away, telling us she'll be back with our drinks.
"Well that was a weird coincidence," Damien says after she leaves."You didn't tell me you were a mind reader," he jokes.
I smile and laugh nervously, "You didn't either."
"I always order hot chocolate every time i come here" he says "Their hot chocolate is the best."
"I know right!" I smile at the fact that we have something in common. "There must be a secret ingredient they use to make it so good."
"Probably." he says smiling. He takes his eyes away from me and looks down at the menu on the table. "We should probably look at the menu now and decide what we want."
I nod. "Right. I agree. We both scan through our menus. I didn't wanna get anything that made me look greedy. I decide to ask what hes getting, so it would make me feel better about what I'm eating. "So what are you gunna order?" I look up at him from my menu.
"Hmm..." he says, looking like he was deep in thought. "I'm deciding between their famous cheeseburger and fries or their famous chicken and waffles." He  looks up at me. "What about you?"
"They both sound yummy. Although, I've never had chicken and waffles before." i say, "And I'm Still trying to decide.
"Well there you go.I think you should try that then.Since you've never had it. Trust me you'll like it" he smirks and his eyes gleam from the sunlight hitting his face.
"I don't know. I mean, that sounds like a weird combination"
He raises his eyebrows and points his finger at me. " Hey. Don't knock it till you try it"
He was right. It wouldn't hurt to try it. And besides, how could I say no to him. I throw up my hands and smile. Alright. "I'll try it. Why not. I close my menu and set it down.
"Good choice." he says smiling and nodding with his eyes on me.
"Alright now that we know what I'm ordering, what are you gunna have?" I fold my arms across my chest.
"Well, since we both ordered the same drink, I think it would be only fair to have the same meal. If it would make you feel any better about trying it. I'll order it too and prove that I  do like it," he says, grinning so hard his dimples show. I melt.
"Good choice" I say, smiling back at him.

As we ate our chicken and waffles, and I had to admit, they were pretty good, we started to talk more about ourselves and I was surprised at
how many things Damien and I had in common. We like to read the same kinds of books, we both like the same movies, and we both like to watch the national geographic channel.  I learned so many things about him. He plays football at his highschool, and he also likes to play the piano. The football thing, I figured that. I mean, with a body like that its obvious. But the Piano thing  Surprised me. It kind of made him seem sensitive and like he had a soft side, which I admired. He even listens to beethoven, which is a big shock. "Don't make fun of me," he said, after he mentioned that he listened to beetoven. But I couldn't help but smile at the idea that a guy who looked so masculine, listened to that kind of music.
"I'm not making fun of you, it's just that I'm surprised. I would've never known that a guy like you listened to beethoven." I chuckled.
He rubs his chin. "Yea, I'm a little embarrassed about it," he said, looking away.
"Don't be. It only makes you unique." I said.
"Thanks. You seem pretty unique yourself." he said with a smirk. I blush. I had told him about my beanie baby collection, and how i had been collecting them since I was little. So now I guess we both have a hobby to be embarrassed about. "You gotta let me see your collection one day." he said with a grin.
I shake my head and look down. "I don't know about that," I said with hesitation. "Catherine's really the only person who's seen it. It's really embarrassing".
"Aw come on. It cant be that bad. I won't laugh. I promise. Please?" He pouts and looks at me with those bluish green eyes. The kind of eyes you just cant say no to. God, they were beautiful.
"Alright fine. One day I'll show you my collection." Once again I had given into Damien.
"Good Choice," he says with a smirk.

After we eat, Damien pays the bill and we both walk back to the house. We were silent at first until Damien broke it. "So how did you like the chicken and waffles?" he asked.
"It was pretty good. Better than I expected." I said.
"Well I could say the same about hanging out with you." He looked at me and smiled I smiled back. I blushed.
I nodded. "Me too"
"We gotta do this more often," He said stuffing his hands in his pockets."I mean, whenever you're not busy with Catherine or your boyfriend.
I was surprised he mentioned him. For a while I had forgotten all about him."Yea we should" Would Jay be okay with it? I mean he doesn't have to know, Damien is just a friend. And besides, I need to spend some time with other people for a change. Getting to know someone new felt exciting and I couldn't help but want to know more about Damien and hang out with him more. Not that Jay is boring, but seeing him every other day gets old sometimes. And it takes the spark out of our relationship. Maybe I should talk to him about it.
My thoughts were interrupted by Damien. "I hope you like Meat Loaf"
I laughed. "Um yeah, I do. Why?''
"Cuz It's my turn to cook tonight. And I don't mean to brag but I make some pretty delicious meat loaf"
"I turn to him and raise my eyebrows, "Oh is that so? Well I'll just have to see about that, Mr. I'm-a great-chef."
"What, you don't think I can cook? I bet im a way better cook than you" he says, playfully shoving me" I laugh and suddenly realize how strong his hands were.
"Hey now, All I said was I'll see. No need to be violent" I said, playfully shoving him back, my hand wrapping around his arm muscles.
"Alright, Alright I'm Sorry. I won't do it again" He said, smirking at me, his dimples caving in his face.
But I wouldn't care if he did it again.
