Wishes

Wishes

A Poem by Adonis

I wish everything could go my way,
I wish I could really mean it when I say i'm okay,
I wish she would look at me the way I look at her,
And think of me like I think of her,

I wish life could be more fair to me,
I wish I could prove what I could be,
I wish to find one that'll love my flaws,
And hold my hand through lifes' slippery floors,

I wish I never wished for love,
I wish I never danced it's song,
It came and left and left me sore,
Again, again and then once more,

I wish I was never as foolish as I was...am
I wish everything would just go according to plan,
But just when everything seems to be going fine,
Nature plays its role and brings me back down.

I wish that all these wishes could become more than wishes,
But then what are wishes if not just mere illusions?
