This, even this, shall passA Poem by AddyAdeOne of my first poems.I wrote it after reading a novel by Debbie Macomber called 'Between Friends'
The wind has risen again,d tide is high
The sky darken, these are the signs Of a storm much stronger than the last Of a rain moving in fast Down it came in its force and fury Threatening to wash away and bury The waves broke over us Pulled back and gathered force Our tiny ship wasn't safe enough Not stronger than a tree bough But we fought the waves while it rained and thundered We were afraid but glad we had each other We stumbled and fell And thought to ourselves,'Life is cruel' We've climbed mountains, fought giants We've being plagued by hunger and sickness and grown faint Our faith was scarred but never waned We pressed on pace by agonizing pace Towards the end we faltered and hovered But quickly regained our confidence, sustaining it until we crossed over The victory was expected,we never doubted it but it caught us unprepared For the exhilaration, the roaring hearts was more than we could bear Our knees buckled and we fell Relief shooting through us and filling to the brim like an over flowing well As we brace ourselves for the waves that threaten Its crest in the lightening glistening We know it's just a phase,we've bin there before We know we'd look back and laugh at the crack of dawn © 2013 AddyAde |
