My Sacred Rose

My Sacred Rose

A Poem by Adarsh

My sacred rose
Draw me close
Entrench me in your sweet grasp
And fill my nostrils
With your sublime dose
For it is your fragrance
That I crave.

So fragile your petals,
So slender your stalk,
So enchanting your colour,
And intoxicating your perfume.
Intimidated be not by the Sun
Nor even by the Gardener,
While you rest under my gaze.

Draw me to your bosom
And expunge all my pain.
Let me bask in your beauty,
For it is where...
My abode lies.

But why these thorns?
Why you gifted them to me?
I had dreamt of blithe
And not the pain
Look,
Now you make me bleed!

Your scent I'd sought
And sting I got
But the sweet nostalgia remains
As my heart-beats abate
And I evanesce away.

Great write! The metaphors have been well thought of. And I like the way the poem flows. The conclusion is very powerful too. Overall, a wonderful write. Great job mate!

Those prickly thorns that cause us to bleed once love has her grip on us, yet the pain is worth the price of finding true love. I enjoyed your beautiful poem very much. It spoke to my heart.
