Snow began to slowly drift to the frozen forest floor. The man still deep in thought, when the crack of wood from behind him jerks him into reality. He turns sharply around to see a nightmare standing in the middle of the trail not 20 feet away. The man stood still frozen from horror as he stared down the repulsive monster that haunted the woods for ages. Fur as black as midnight, bloody teeth piecing threw its long snout. Paws the size of a man face bright yellow eyes that look into the very soul of its prey. Scares riddled its body and face. It was if the creature crawled out from the deepest ring of hell to torment men. The beast still as stone examining the man. His hand trembled, a cold sweat beaded down his  pale fear stricken face. His heart smashed against his rib cage at a furious rate. The beast gave a demonic smile at the man. Thats when he knew it was nothing but pure evil trying spread its hate amongst any poor soul that should cross its path. Giving out a gut wrecking bark it rushed at the man, with blood soaked foam falling from its jaws. Lunging threw the air at the man mouth open wide. He throws his arm up and lets the demon long razor sharp teeth dig into his flesh ripping threw muscle and cracking bone, he drives his knife into the under belly with all his force.  Throwing the beast off him as he falls to the ground. The demon giving out a blood curtailing yelp. The man desperately trying to get back to his feet. Whipping his musket off his back. He reaches into his pocket pulling out his firing cap, soaking it with blood. He raises his weapon at the charging beast knife still lodged deep into its belly. He pulls the trigger, but the fuse won't ignite. Without thought he grabs the barrel and swings its at the beast. The crack of bone and wood echo threw the woods. With all his energy he continues to bash its head in. Only when he's on the brink of passing out he stops. Crying he falls to his knees landing in a pool of dark blood with bits of bone floating around. He examines his arm. Its only holding on by a few strains of muscle and skin. Knowing he doesn't have long he must get to the mountain town before bleeding out.
