Hearken unto me! Part 1

Listen O boy, heed every word!

For I will help you learn,

A thing or two about this world,

From none but I you’ll earn.

 

First, get born! And come unto life,

Scream, assert your being,

Your share of love and hope and strife

That you’re here and seeing.

 

Use your senses and watch the norm,

The way all things are set,

How every actor does perform,

With a glass of water on his head.

 

Check out the masks, how torn they are,

Which people hide behind,

How every word is rather far,

From what they hold inside.

 

Now heed, mull over your father,

Behold his age go by,

Watch in his grin the grim reaper,

Preparing his goodbye.

 

Look around the wretched shack,

That imprisons your dreams,

Hear the moan in every crack,

Wherever reach the beams

 

These moth-eaten pages of wood,

Which are your father’s tomb,

Wherein his hopes rest so you could,

Arise from its glum womb.

 

Those cracks that busted up the walls,

Are dreams that went out free,

They breathe despite pain for to call,

His wisdom to your feet…

the wisdom of a father who wants better for his son than he had.

the knowledge is passed on down...do we use it and create our own knowledge?

do we achieve more than the last generation could?

i have come to doubt that could happen so much these days, the way the world is going...we are just trying to survive...

so sad. dreams go free, but then disappear.

This is a great Adam - this speaks volumes and I know will be relatable to a few here. I think that we pass our knowledge on to our younger generations in hope that they will try to achieve more than we did.... if you get me - we want our younger ones to be smarter than us, protect them and teach them right from wrong so they don't make mistakes like we did.
