O Deathless king!

Man:

O Night! O Night! O deathless king! 

Heed my calls that amid you ring! 

Down your throne I unfold my wings, 

Upright I head to sky that blings. 

 

O king! What spell do you contrive? 

That all seething souls does revive! 

Why my muse only awaken, 

When by azure charms it’s taken? 

 

Night:

Man! O man! O mortal being! 

What odd point are you conveying? 

This is I! There is no such spell! 

But the illusions your mind dwell. 

 

Man:

King! Empathize my desperate needs, please! 

My soul and heart you tightly seize.

I merely wonder why I’m lost, 

Under your reign of fatal frost? 

 

I wish to elude my present, 

And the past’s virulent dungeons, 

Between sacred silence and sleep, 

Disorder overruns me deep. 

 

Night:

For the hearts whose woes are legion, 

I’m a peaceful, soothing region. 

Souls ever search for place of rest, 

From hardship and pain’s drab infest. 

 

Here all creation is even, 

In my repose ends their weeping. 

The poor, the rich, the mad, the sane, 

Herein! All the same! All the same! 

 

Man:

But your regal tempt is vicious, 

If long persisted its presence. 

I might be secure in my dreams, 

Still I cannot forsake day’s beams! 

 

I want hope; I just want a glance, 

Under the sun an ardent dance, 

I want my soul to embrace light, 

Please do release me, O King Night! 

 

Night:

Your request is not mine to cede

Your prison is but your own deed!

Man! The key is in your pocket!

Open up the chains! Just grab it!

 

Free your yearning soul from my rule! 

Was I really, that harsh or cruel? 

I took it in, when no one did, 

And held it softly on my chest. 

 

Man:

In your heart I grew up to stand, 

Withal it is the norm of man, 

We will wither under your dark, 

Beneath its rue we’ll break apart. 

 

I hereby depart your domain,

And return, on my road again,

I trended for long off my track,

It’s time I finally get back.
