I watch the walls of this old place
they seem to breath as I walk past,
Tattered remains of memories
better left buried where they rest.
Abandoned like many patients,
Committed without their consent,
Sitting, waiting to be condemned,
This asylum has met its end.

First, I love the sensory detail. I feel like I am in the asylum. Second, if you have not watched American Horror story season 2, you should. This poem very much made me connect to that series. It is very creepy, spooky and actually somewhat sad. It would be incredible to visit an asylum at least once though, just to see what it is like! Thank you for sharing! Great work!

You really manage to carry your visual without having to write a whole lot about it, which works very well with the short poetry you write! Nice piece!

There was such a place not far from the small village where I lived as a child. It had a reputation of not being a good place to be. Occasionally we would dare to play in the grounds, but not very often, it was too scary. Thirty years later and it's now a housing estate. T
