Rush

Rush

A Poem by CajunPoet

Sitting alone in the sand as twilight arrives,
Storm clouds that roll in now block remaining sunshine
Distant lightning strikes seem to keep catching my eye,
I stand up in darkness and walk to the shoreline.

Wind blows my face as many waves crash at my feet,
I contemplate so many mistakes that I’ve made,
Refusing to give in I won’t accept defeat,
Swirling waters seem to try to want to wash me away.

Now the beach tries it’s hardest to swallow me whole,
Waves keep knocking me over but each time I stand,
Finding a strength from inside the depths of my soul,
After the storm all that’s left are footprints in sand.
