Shadows slowly run from the setting Sun,
Fading with the light of the horizon,
I had never realized you were the one,
alone with my thoughts I know we are done.

Quiet rolling waves crash into the shore,
Quenching my soul, leaving me wanting more,
In the undertow I forget before,
You’ve drifted away and my heart is torn.

Closing my eyes I feel you slip away
Searching my mind to find another way,
I realize now you could never stay,
ending in darkness like each passing day.
