Tidal

Tidal

A Poem by CajunPoet

I rest not 'gainst the tides of time,
But turn and face relentless waves,
Freeing myself from fierce current,
Before I’m lost in its embrace.

I brace my feet in shifting sand,
Tall waves crash in and overtake,
On bended knee I fill one hand,
Its contents quickly washed away.

Feeling the sand slip from my grasp,
It inevitably escapes.
Though instead of feeling fearful,
I prepare for oncoming waves.

Rising up to the occasion
Of meeting life and love the same,
I win, and lose, but struggle on,
Emerging stronger every day.
