A Bigger Cage

A Bigger Cage

A Poem by Adam Clay
"

A glance into my people's past.

"

In the days gone by, they took us away,
And made us work for them.
The cracking, and strange, violent booms
Forced us to work for them.
Inhumanity!

But the day had to come for us to free us.
But we only landed in a bigger cage!
They say we are free,
But they are wrong,
Wrong!

We are still not ourselves. We speak like them,
Like Ester in her time…
We know ourselves, but cannot be,
So still, we are no one,
No one!

We must be them outside, and us in the dark,
Little corner. I long for the day the cage
Gets bigger, the day our will will finally tear down the bars.
Change is constant. It will happen, it
Must!

Before the us in us die,
And all that’s left is an empty shell,
Filled by them, then only our skins will be black.
Let our will be strong,
Strong!

Interesting Adam. Do you feel controled by others or is this a reflection of thought ? I have several Black friends and no one has expressed this to me and now I wonder if its how they feel inside.
