Something About You

Something About You

A Poem by Adam Greenfield

So what are you going to write about this,

about what we’re doing now, you ask

and I tell you only time will tell

and now I guess that time has come

but there’s so much and nothing

to say about a chance meeting

that could or could not have happened

though I’m happy to have met you,

to have learned your name

heard your voice

met another soul of similar design

as mine and it’s nice

to have met you just in time

for this piece of work

this flesh and bones and bearded

makeup of a man

to test myself, to take a chance

on you and do something

I never do or have ever done

before I met you

and it makes it even better

to have met you that I met you

that way because

all I’ve seen and heard

is worth the chance for one

chance to spend some time

in your presence

under the gaze of your eyes

I’ve only seen from a distance

but could tell there is

something about you

that is so damn attractive

on the inside as you are beautiful

on the out and so I try

to put it in words while I wait

for you to call, it’s all I can do

to keep myself from wondering

if you were real at all.

something about you
that is so damn attractive
on the inside as you are beautiful
on the out and so I try
to put it in words while I wait
for you to call, it's all I can do
to keep myself from wondering
if you were real at all.

Awl, Adam, this was so touching and heartfelt. Chances are that she is sitting by the phone waiting and wondering herself if it was real at all. She may be waiting to see if you care about her. In fact, that is what I am doing right now...playing the waiting game. If he doesn't call, my heart I shall not trust him with again.

Oh so sad :( (sniff) I'm so sorry Adam. (hug) You're friends are always here to help you through anything that life throws your way. I hope this isn't how the story ends, but I'll just have to get through my read requests to find out. Here's to hope!

Beautiful write, as always. :)

ah - a lonely write....eloquent and almost sad....I had to come make sure you were still around.

i do like this, and the ending was powerful. however, for me, it flowed too quickly, my eyes were like skimming but not catching the words... not understanding the thoughts. in this way, i wasn't getting anything tangible from the piece. it might help to slow it down, perhaps? or i'm just tired or somethign lol

A philosophical insight which reflects on the subject matter - nicely penned!

She is real, I assure you, and she misses you too she's just very, very busy and will call you soon.

Theres no question in my mind that the woman was real. What the character suffers from is the same thing a lot of women suffer from when a man dates them and then never calls. Especially when the girl really falls for him. This character opened himself up and let himself believe there was more to it than the oter person did and now as he sits and waits begins to wonder if it ever happened at all.

Great write. So much emotion..

Was it real or "Poof" just a trick of smoke and mirrors.
I liked this, it was ponderable, made one think, and then realize that thinking to much is just as bad and thinking to much.
And in the end, we still dream and and we still keep seeking our perfect perfection
Great Write!
