Nearly Trampled by Wolves - 4A Chapter by Acoustic-HeartI'll get more literate now guys :TI was gifted with a cabin at the far end of the beach, it was small, cute and filled with dreamcatchers, wolf and bear carvings and a tiny picture of what looked like a chief. It was a three roomed space with a bathroom, livingroom/kitchen and a back bedroom. However, I didn't bunk alone in the cabin. The only other young girl, Kailey, shared my space. I slept on the couch while she had the bed, for the sake she was only 12 of course. The poor thing talked a mile a minute too. "So Zoe, you met those boys? On the beach this morning? That tall one was looking at you like a little puppy looks at a big delish bone. He totally wants you!" Kailey said, putting shitloads of emphisis on "totally". We were just finishing up unpacking in our room. "Oh? I didn't notice." I lied while folding a jacket and placing it on my dresser. "Oh come on! What was his name... Av... Ava-" "Avan." I cut her off coldly. "See! You prove my point! First day and you already got the hots for a native!" Dear Lord, I wanted to put a knife to her throat so bad. "Shuttup and unpack." I hissed. She ran for her bag and pulled out a book. Oh God... not that... "I bet hes gonna imprint on you!!" She ran around sporting her Eclipse novel. "STOP!" I grunted, chucking my sweatpants at her. She fell onto the bed laughing. Ugh.
I demanded fresh air, or any exscuse to get away from the demon child. Thankfully, my cabin had miles of wild forest behind it, so without delay I pulled on other sweatpants and a hoodie and booked it out the door. It was a slight incline but the workout stretched my legs. The only issue this hike gave me was that it put me in deep thought. Was Stephenie Meyer right? Did these boys "imprint" on girls? And worse, would any of them pick me? I wouldn't be spending the rest of my life here, and I wouldn't dare waste my summer on a sappy love story with someone like... Avan... he was the first to meet me, even attempt to make a proper greeting when behind him stood a wild bunch. I continued to think until a noise startled me. It was distant, and sounded like a stampede of some large animals. But soon the sound grew louder. Louder. Louder until I could here the panting of, of a dog? No... a wolf. I ran and hid behind a large tree, looking in the direction of the wild animals. Three giant wolves pushed through the undegrowth and slowed down to were I stood just moments ago. they sniffed the ground and looked up to my tree. My eyes met with the largest of the trio, a dark grey beast with layered higlights of black in his fur. He had the same eyes as... Oh no.
"Avan?" I whispered quietly in shock. He must have heard me, his ears perked up and a low growl escaped his muzzle. The two behind him, one a light sandy brown with ginger-tipped ears and the other a deep chocolate brown began to notice who I was. I couldn't tell what boy I'd met the other day matched these wolves but I could tell they knew I was that girl they'd met. Avan's grey brow furrowed, and he took a step closer to me. He knew his cover had been blown. I summoned all my will and slowly moved from out of my cover, shaking. Chocolate and ginger-ears stepped back, knowing that Avan would handle me. I stretched my hand out when we were close enough, I was so close to touching him; when a howl sounded from deep in the woods. Avan suddenly shot up, resuming his status and howled back. The sound was almost comforting somehow, but so powerful, it seemed to shake the trees to their roots. The three charged back into the woods without a glance back, so I was left there, standing with my hand out in the air, my eyes unblinking. © 2012 Acoustic-HeartAuthor's Note
