Chapter XI �" Sympathy

 

„Remember.. Natural energy in one hand.. Cosmic in the other..“

 

„Natural.. One hand.. Cosmic..“

Utakata put his hands together clumsily and out of balance, the energy started to begin balancing itself out.

A spark of blue lightning crossed over Utakata's hands, raging hard wind instantly blew out of the center, while sparks of lightining bursted through the current.

The taller person grabbed both his hands spinned him , releasing his hands and throwing himself on him.

 

„Oh.. My.. S**t.. Sir.. Are you..“

London turned back towards him with an annoyed expression, most of his face and body bones tearing through the surface of the skin,  his body was incinerated discombobulated to the bitter and he aggresively spit blood next to Utakata.

 

„Ugh.. Brat.. Why do I even bother..“

He said with a grim low rough voice due to his vocal organs still repairing, he took out a pack of red Marlboro from his pocket, took out a cig and bit the tip of lighting it. He blew a dense cloud of smoke from his mouth into the gentle wind. He brought his head down onto looking at Utakata again with most of his face already squirming into place.

 

„Sir.. Im.. So sorry.. I..“

Utakata said going a few steps back from the disturbing scene that was London's

 

„Brat.. Focus and calm yourself! If you don't neutralise yourself it's going to take you five years.. And we don't have that..“

London took in another pull, he exhaled through his nose enjoying the smoke coarsing through his body. He sat and inhaled the fresh sharp air from with a clean morning aroma.

 

„I bit into you.. And made you like this for a reason.. We agreed.. You would become Grendel.. And fight for our cause.. And if you don't listen to me.. We won't have any progress.. And your body will then mutate.. Turning you into one of those crooked things.. You need to reach balance..“

London said roughly and pulled again, Utakata sat there looking at the ground dissapointed in himself.

 

„Sir.. If I may ask.. What is that symbol on your cloack..?“

Utakata asked curiously while hearing a lightning sound, followed by a loud explosion, he saw a person behind him flying up in the air.

Tanaka swiftly jumped off an edge, thrusting himself off morphed into an eagle saving Len from hitting the ground.

 

„Ugh.. Expected a bit more from you..“

London said while Len was still shaking in fear and adrenaline,   rubbing her hands together in pain, half her clothing was torn off and she couldn't say a thing mumbling.

„I guess.. Turning into something horrifying deems unproportional to getting used to it..“

Tanaka said with his quiet calm voice, Tanaka was around twenty five years old, he had silver toned hair and bright golden eyes, he was an average height and always been in his own world. They turned their sight to the East and saw someone yelling.

 

„KID!! DO YOU EVEN HAVE A SOUL!!? GOD!!“

Noryada was yelling at Owen unable to channel energy inside of Harmony through his body, she jumped in frustration and destroyed a tree. She came back with London approaching them.

 

„Least he isn't going nuclear on himself..“

London said irritated by the failure in the three kids, he looked up at the sky, then quickly turned his head to the North peeking through his eyes with a grimace.

 

Sitting there, a boy, with his hands connected, green lightning going around him with a gentle aura, London approached him slowly with disbelief, leaning to the left and to the right, he looked into Sky's eyes which changed color from his original light green into complete blackness and changed back.

 

„You.. You did it?“

London asked quietly, Lars was sitting next to Sky staring at the Sky. Lars was half morphed into a crooked Grendel, which means half his body is permanently deformed, as well as his mouth, it is fused together.

 

„Lars.. What'd you tell him.“

London asked curiously. Lars sat into a sitting position and started making hand signs to London so he would understand.

 

„I/Told/Him/To/Do/It/And/He/Did/It“

Lars signed, tapped Sky on the back and returned him to his normal state.

 

„I/Didn't/Trigger/Wild/Emotions/Of/Fear/Or/Anxiety/Inside/Of/Him/By/Scaring/Or/Intimidating/Him/I/Simply/Told/Him/To/Do/It/So/He/Did/It/“

Lars signed and smiled weirdly at the other three that failed.

 

„See this brats? That is a Grendel! Sky is the only one able to reach balance, and that is two days after Harmony. He cannot utilize the power yet due to his age, his body would reach too much of a burden if he would attempt to alter himself now. However, everyone has to go through this, because if you don't, you don't have mind control over your mutation. And your body will start mutating by itself, turning you into one of those things. That's why you have to reach balance. Then you will be able to change and mutate your DNA at will, and reverse the alteration also at will. Which is all triggered by mind. Balance is reached by combining your bodily nature energy, with the cosmic energy of Harmony. However, you cannot reach balance while raw emotion coarsing through your body, you need to neutralise yourselves. Calmly combine the energies and focus. Since you're all beginners, and nature energy is defensive by nature, while cosmic is more offensive by nature. Use more of the Nature energy.“

London said roughly at the three while Sky was dazed looking around.

 

„But.. London.. Sir.. Why do we use more Nature energy?“

Utakata asked bluntly. London came up to him and pushed his head down, yelling.

 

„Cause you'll make a lesser explosion if you screw up!! Now get back over there and try...“

He was interrupted by something running towards their location, they turned around and saw a horse swiftly approaching, the horse morphed into a human while still running.

 

„London. It's Gateau. He's back. There's something you need to see.“

Suzaku said anxiously, gasping for air.

 

„Uhh.. What now.. Let's go.“

London said with a sigh, they morphed into horses and picked the kids up onto them.

 

60 Minutes Later

„Please tell me you're joking..“

„Nope.. Fresh off the hunt!“

„They look so.. ugly“

„Uglyly.. Awesome!“

„Oh shut up Nora.. Who asked you anyway!“

„Tany asked me!“

„No I didn't..“

„Honey!“

„Sorry babe.. Yea I asked her..“

„Damn your weak Tanaka!“

„Suze.. I'd like to see ya cope with that..“

„That?! Am I an ITEM now! Is that it?!“

„Norada.. No I'm sorry..“

„You see that? You're being a..“

„OI! Can you all stop bitching about for five seconds! Im trying to think here..“

Before the six men, kneeling on their knees, two human soldiers, terrified to the bone.

 

„And who caught em?“

London turned his sight over the group of men.

 

„Um.. Rose did.. sir“

A colorful red haired, blue eyed figure stood in the plain waving and smiling.

 

„Suzaku.. Drop the sir..“

London said annoyed and approached the soldiers.

 

„Yes.. sir“

Suzaku replied nervously.

 

„Ugh.. Right then.. What the hell are you muppets doing all the way out here eh?“

London gazed into the left soldiers eyes, his body was trembling with fear, motionlessly looking forward, swallowed his saliva.

 

„I.. I..“

London looked at the other soldier, a bit less filled with fear and emotion, but still scared out of his mind.

 

„Well? Gateau why the hell is he not talking!“

London asked bluntly.

 

„Je ne sais quois.. Guess he's scared shitless“

London looked back at the soldier, twitched his nose and a small force pushed him onto his back.

 

„I said! What the f**k! Are you doing here!“

With no response, London's patience grew weaker, he kept pushing the soldier towards the ground with his array of shifted energy.

 

„Sir! I reccomend we handle this.. with a p-peaceful resolve.. since..“

„Suzaku..“

 

„Sir?“

 

„Shut up..“

 

„Sir.“

London looked back towards the collapsed soldier and turned his head slightly on the side with a smile.

 

„Right then.. Since you won't talk.. You won't be needing this will ya? Feel free to thank me..“

London said reaching towards him.

London reached into the soldier's mouth grabbed his tongue and started easily pulling it out of his mouth, with a slight smile on his face, the terrified look on the other soldiers face.

 

„Wait.. We're here to..“

 He ripped his tongue and smashed his elbow into his face deforming the whole body to pieces.

 

„Ahh!!“

The other soldier screamed in a female voice, she couldn't suppress the terror any longer, London's sight quickly turned to her, he grabbed her by the chest pulling her close to his face.

 

„So you talk! I'll ask you once more! Why are you here!“

London asked losing his patience, piercing into the womans soul, with his red eyed deep gaze.

 

„I..I.. so..“

The soldier started mumbling in fear.

 

„WELL?!“

London shouted angrily.

 

„I SOLEMNLY SWEAR TO PROTECT, SERVE AND FIGHT FOR THE HIGH COUNCIL OF ATLAS AND THE CONSTITUTION OF HUMANITY WITH ALL MY POWER, WILL AND HEART! MANKIND PREVAILS!“

Everyone looked towards the female soldier, except London who brought his head towards the female and touched his forehead against hers. He whispered.

 

„Hmm.. Are those.. Your final words?“

He asked calmly.

 

„They are..“

She said with tears and flames in her eyes.

London stood up above her, looked at the grey sky, took a deep breath.

 

„Hmm.. Seems like.. There's still some of you.. That believes.. Believes we can win..“

The female soldier looked down at the ground as the light rain was pouring over them. London enjoyed the drops falling on his face, he turned his head down towards her. And offered her a helping hand to stand.

 

„Tanaka! Escort her to the crossover.. Find a safe path.. She knows how to return to Atlas.. She won't tell us though.. She'd rather die... Im sure of it.. See ya in day..“

London asked confirming the loyalty of a human soldier.

 

„London..“

Tanaka replied calmly.

 

„What is it?“

London asked turning around.

 

„The darkness will fall soon, are you certain?“

Tanaka asked quietly, looking above at the slowly falling night sky.

 

„Absolutely.. I have no doubts.. Get it done..“

London said reassuring him.

 

„Yes.. I ask of you to watch after Nora.. For me..“

Tanaka said bowing down to London.

 

„I give you my word..“

London applied tapping him on the shoulder, Tanaka grabbed the soldier by the arm and began leading her towards the South of their location.

 

„Londres.. Where to now?“

Gateau asked joining the rest of the elites.

 

„Humanity's former frontier.. The nation of Aven.. That group of soldiers was able to cross into 200 meters of our position without me sensing them.. Seems they have developed some kind of technology countering Harmony.. If they would ever be endangered of it.. However.. I may have just been slacking off so I didn't sense them..“

London said lighting another cigarette.

 

„Londres.. Can I ask you something? Your natural alteration has lent you the power of creating force out of plain air.. But you use your lungs to inhale and exhale creating it.. How come you smoke so much.. Your lungs do heal themselves.. But the smoke stays in your system.. Isn't that a bit.. Self destructive..“

Gateau asked following up to the legendary Grendel.

 

„Ironic.. I'dn it..“

London replied quickly, and strapped his cloack around himself.

 

„Why Aven..“

Gateau asked waving away the smoke merging with the fresh forest side, afternoon air.

 

„Aven.. In order to succeed in our goal.. We have to pass through there and uncover any mystery of the location of the current Sanctuary of Humanity.. Also there was a clocktower.. A clocktower on a hill.. It reached quite a height.. Such height that not even us can reach it without experiencing too much air thinness and friction.. We might be able to get an excellent vantage point.. Also.. It has massive Harmony trails.. We might be able to enhance our power.. And become stronger..  Either way.. We have to pass through it..“

London said while sensing something, light vibrations in the ground.

 

„Gateau.. You feel this..“

London asked quickly stopping behind everyone.

 

„Londres.. What is..“

Gateau asked confusingly.

 

„Feels so... Familiar...“
