Chapter IX �" Revelations

 

„Please.. You can't just..“

Utakata said grabbing London's arm.

 

„Watch me.“

London said and walked further towards his group of men.

 

„But.. Please.. We need some answers.. Please..“

Utakata said with tears in his eyes, London opened his eyes a bit and then closed them.

 

„We saved you. Be grateful, little brat.“

London said and approached a person, the sun had already risen, Utakata was persuading London to help them, he knew that they had nowhere else to go.

 

„But.. You have to help us.. You just have to.. That's moral.. We're thankful for your rescue.. But.. Please..“

Utakata continued trying.

 

„Moral eh? Hmm, you know brat, you're so simple it's interesting.“

London said coldly, he was about 5'9'' or 185 Cm, he had dark medium hair, with his eyes red. He was a smoker, a heavy one, he usually smoked anything due to lack of cigarettes. He didn't mind, his lungs would reheal everytime they got damaged in a couple of seconds. He had a group of seven elites who he knew from childhood.

 

„Then why!? Why did you even save us!!? Why not just let us die!!?“

Utakata said shouting for an answer.

 

„Why? So now you want answers? Well, why don't you prove to me that you deserve to hear them?“

London said calmly and provocatevily.

 

„How.. How should I prove that..“

Utakata said and turned around hearing a door noise, Owen was carrying a still unconscious but alive Len, Sky walked by him still being dazed and slowly remembering the tragic events that happened beforehand.

 

„I think I can think of something.“

London said, turned around and called.

 

„Eth.“

A woman appeared before them in a split second, she had brown long hair, with bright hazel eyes, a bit shorter than London at around 180 Cm. She had a dark cloack around her, the cloack had something on its backside.

 

„London. Should I kill these kids.“

Ethalya Allard said and looked at the children. They all got startled and Sky stepped out front.

 

„No! Don't kill us! I'll give you my animal stickers!!!“

Sky said embarrassing himself and stepped back looking at the ground, Owen smiled at him and placed his hand on his shoulder.

 

„No Eth. It's a lot more amusing than that. You get to fight someone here.“

London said calmly with a slight smirk. And gestured asking who is going to fight Ethalya.

 

„Well.. we..“

Utakata said and saw Owen setting down Len on the wet grass, he kissed her on the cheek and went to step forward. Utakata stepped in front of him, avoiding direct eye contact.

 

„I'll do it.“

Utakata said with determination, Owen was surprised.

 

„Utakata-san.. You will get hurt.. I'll do it.. It's better for everyone.. If I don't survive.. I know I can trust you to take care of sister and Skylar.“

Owen said trying to move forward, Utakata pushed him back again.

 

„No! I failed.. I failed to save Len..Nor Sky.. And.. And if it wasn't for you Owen.. We would all be dead right now..The least I can do.. Is try to get us some answers.. I don't want to let everyone's death be in vain.. It's my time.. If anyone's going to die.. It's going to be me.. Now stand back..“

Utakata turned around towards London and coldly nodded to him.

 

„Utakata-san... Aren't you scared..?“

Owen asking caring for the boy.

 

„Yeah.. I am.. S**t.. Scared shitless..“

Utakata exhaled with anxiety, closed his eyes, he held his teeth together and released a tear. He brought his head up wiping the tear off his face. He exhaled with calmness.

 

„London?“

Ethalya asked with absolute coldness.

 

„Alright, brat, your objective. You need to place a single hit onto Ethalya. Eth, your objective, don't kill him, if you can.

London said and went next to his second strongest. Gateau Voltaire.

 

„Londres.. Cest quoi..?“

Gateau said impatiently looking at Ethalya and Utakata looking at each other at a close range. She was saying something to him.

 

„Patience my friend. I gave those brats over there a chance to get some answers. Let's watch him fail.“

London said coldly and looked towards Eth and Utakata, light wind blew on the grass gently, a cold feeling passed through Utakata, they began walking contra each other, with their backs turned.

 

„A duel..?“

Gateau asked, Gateau originated from France, he was an Aven orphan after the war took away his parents. He was from a military family. London however, was from the countryside.

 

„Not sure if you can call it that. They're beginning by walking ten steps away from each other. After they do so, on the 10th step. They turn around and skip.“

London said calmy, skipping was commonly reffered to in London's group, as close range teleportation.

 

„Oh.. I understand..“

Gateau said happily.

 

„But it's funny.“

London said grinning.

 

„Why is that?“

Gateau asked curiously.

 

„The brat can't skip.“

London smiled. Utakata and Ethalya were still walking contra with their backs turned, the 10th step grew near and every step forward raised the anxiety in the eyes of Utakata's friends. Sky clenched his fists tightly having belief in Utakata ending up triumphant. Owen however, chose to be more realistic.

 

„He's.. Kennedy-san.. I think he's going to.. Well.. Lose..“

Owen said uneasy, he looked at Sky still watching closely in belief.

 

„Owen.. If we could survive that thing not killing us.. Crushing us.. I think Uta-san.. Will win.. Even if he manages to hit her once..“

Sky said with trust in his friend.

 

„Soi!“

London said, Ethalya turned around rapidly skipping to Utakata's position as soon as he turned around, he was immedieatly blinded by the milisecond high kick Ethalya placed on his hands positioned close to his head. He flew several meters to the side and hit a tree with his back, Ethalya rushed and skipped across a broken log, she spread her right hand hitting Utakata's chest with her whole arm. His body tore through the tree due to the massive force Ethalya distributed to his body. He fell on his knees and coughed blood out of his mouth, Ethalya followed by a split second continuing to place aggresive punches to his face holding a straight emotionless face.

 

„And he was supposed to have a chance how..?“

Gateau asked London in a loud observant manner, tearing through the sound of aggresive punches and violent screams of pain, none of them thought unusual to see someone getting brutally beaten to the edge of their life. London looked at Owen and Sky frozen in disbelief.

 

„Ahh, not my business. The brat wanted it. If he can place a punch on a Grendel, he can ask me questions.“

London said coldly still observing.

 

„You know.. Londres.. I still think it's a bit extreme.. I mean.. He is still a child.. And Ethalya is like right below me.. He has no combat experience.. And will probably die.. And you gave the order to save them in the first place.. I don't want you to think I have distrust in you.. I simply think that your judgment might be clouded.. They've gone through a lot.. Im not saying this is the right decision.. I trust you to make it..“

Gateau said and left his said back to the rest of the team, Ethalya was still beating Utakata, London loudly sighed and spoke.

 

„Hey, Eth!“

He yelled and started walking back to his group.

 

She turned around facing him immedieatly, Utakata saw the opportunity and threw himself onto her, managing to barely slap her on the right cheek. He fell on the ground breathing in every half second, pointing his bloody hand towards Ethalya and said.

 

„Sloppy...“

He said and passed out from exhaustion and pain.

 

Several hours later he woke up leaning onto Owen, who was riding a horse, behind them was Len riding one too with Sky behind her. In front of them were five men walking along with Takada in the front, London was standing next to Utakata's horse.

 

„Well, looks like you've won. Ask away?“

London said calmly looking forward, and nodding to Rose to obtain Eagle morph and survey the area ahead.

„What.. What are you!? I mean.. How can you turn into something like that.. How can.. How can she do that..?“

Utakata said and pointed to Ethalya.

 

„We are Grendel.“

London replied coldly.

 

„Yeah.. I know.. You've said that already.. But.. What does that mean exactly.. What is Grendel?“

Utakata asked raising his voice wanting to know.

 

„Grendel has no definition, so to speak, we were too human, as you, once. However, we were influenced by a natural space predator, bastardly named Harmony by humanity. The reason why I said Grendel cannot be defined, is because when Harmony influences humans they usually turn in what you've seen back there in your village. It massively alters your structure and turns you into something Inhuman. And the controversial part about it is that it alters you randomly. So for all you know. You could grow a cow head on your back. Your stomach could be altered to work like a dog's stomach and so on. Harmony infects the air, when human individuals inhale Harmony infected air, they become euphoric and enthusiastic, and that is because Harmony goes through your lungs and gets distributed throught your body, creating a lighter DNA altering effect, which influences the brain aswell, and can either cause great happines or extreme sorrow. However, it also infects water. When infected water gets in contact with an individual's skin. It's pretty much over for them. It alters your body so much that it reaches massive mutation beyond any possible rescue.“

London spouted quickly, but Utakata heard every word while Owen kept himself concentrated on riding while still processing London's words.

 

„What about you!? What's your story!? What are you even doing here!?“

Len shouted from behind them.

 

„Arrogance.“

London said quietly being annoyed.

 

„What!?“

Len shouted  from the back.

 

„Nothing. We, are friends from childhood, we were.. Ahh.. Orphans, in an Aven orphanage led by Karla Nethremayer, his cousin I've gotten really close to killing. But him, he's just in another league, I can barely defeat him myself. If I get the advantage that is. And uhh.. We were such little kids that we didn't realize what was going on. The government of the nation where no human has set foot. Lexxon. Issued a command for testing out a new piece of potential weaponry acquired from an expedition that Aven led. Ironic actually, because the same weapon had been used to conquer Aven, and Aven were the ones who've actually retrieved it. I was there fifteen years ago. I tried to stop them with a creative morph. But I couldn't, their forces deployed a massive mechanichal giant, that pounded me to the ground. I was defeated and humanity had retrieved the weapon. They have used it to produce weaponry of massive effectiveness. They tested it out on orphans like us. There was eight of us there, but one of us had set his goal long before any of us.“

London said quietly showing melancholy to the events of the past.

 

„I see..“

Utakata said sadly.

 

„How does Harmony even exist?“

Sky asked knowing everything about nature.

 

„It grows. In the form of flora. On a water covered distant planet. At least I believe that is it's origin. Our task in all this, is to clear the world of Harmony, to do this we must reverse the process and find the original core of Harmony, it is currently located in the Sanctuary of Humanity known as Atlas. It is impossible to find.“

London said and sighed.

 

„Where is the planet located?“

Owen asked looking at the clouds' unusual shapes.

 

„In a solar system far away from here. It has seven other planets in it aswell. And the large star in the core of the system burnt out several decades ago.“

London said tiringly and took a deep breath.

 

„Would you happen to know it's name..?“

Utakata asked curiously.

 

„Before the former inhabitants left it, due to the star in the core of the system burning out. Their warmth source had perished and they had to move onto another planet. Already inhabited. However, I do not know the name...“

 

London said and they continued to stroll on the infinite horizon, and nightfall bleaking out the bright color of the sky.
