Severing myself from mankind

Severing myself from mankind

A Poem by Wraith.

Dormant reflection
devoid of reverence
withdrew from flesh
the vultures will be here soon
It hurt to know my lungs regained
Carried me though others failed
regurgitating the same miasma
Light and it's sheath
Now, detached
Birth in perdition
Life in solitude
lapsed into a reverie

Tks
This is a poignant piece of writing, Wraith. I like how you played with the sounds of 'd' and 'r' in your first two lines.
"Light and its' sheath" made me think of how light has been drawn out like a sword from its sheath, and this added an element of fighting within oneself..a war one is fighting with oneself.

"the vultures will be here soon" This was really good, it took me a while to realise that the vultures you were referring to could be anywhere from literal to metaphoric. A good read!

painful....self-defacement---
the road to perdition is long and hard...and often separates us from others....this road has to be traveled alone, back to the light.
