Bitter Blue

Bitter Blue

A Poem by K. S. Cook

I see the beauty within all lies,

When death is near, and life survives.

Every loss and trial a test,

For who will fall or rise above the rest.

Because we are broken, and bitter too,

And let our hearts turn us blue

By the thoughts and turns that take our joy,

And let pettiness come out to play.

For this world is bitter, bitter blue

And all the people are cold and shattered too.

A darkly pessimistic rhyming poem that does feel rather depressing and cynical. The world has plently blue but it also has a coat of many colours.

The period after "...turn us blue" I don't think is necessary, given the following line seems like a continuation of that thought, but this is amazing! Right from the start it's a powerful expression of what the world is, and the execution is brilliant! Well done!
