The Rocky Path

The Rocky Path

A Poem by Ace Jaxon

I am a flower, no longer blooming in summer, drifting with a bitter wind
I bite my tongue and learn what it means to be free again as someone blows away the dandelion seeds
I asked you a question to figure something out
And now I think I understand almost without a doubt

You moved on like the first leaves of fall, sudden and almost unnoticed
Now that leaves are almost all gone I hold onto the last branch, but every leaf must fall
Thank you for loving me through the fall, I am learning how to move on
Like a sudden spring breeze, the ice and snow seemed to melt away
Instead of pulling my roots out they gave me water
But like a rose I am far too hesitant and afraid that I may cut them

They are sweet and they seem to only make me happy
I am not going to go in blind though, it's been far too long of time to
I shall hop stone from stone across the lake I have claimed my own
No longer am I a castle with walls for you to devour
I shall be an ocean to cross, one of hurricanes and waves
Those who wish to stay will not trace the crooked rocks I've made but instead shall dive within to see the beautiful mess I've made along the rocky path

What a journey you have taken me in with your words. Loved the strength depicted in the poem.

The mixed metaphors are fun to experience and makes for an exciting read. :-)
