Out

Out

A Poem by Ace Jaxon

The closet opened wide when she gave me no choice
On one hand I was calm, happy even
On the other, I was hurt and angry
My privacy was breached
It was a title wave, crashing in on me
Accepting like a hug, yet deadly like a stab to the heart
Gracefully harmful, a symphony of sound
And all I wanted to do was turn around
Flip the sign on the door, reading closed
But one day the sign will say open
And she will accept me fully
For now the clock will tick by
Waiting for a high tide that will come in time
For now I'm stranded, surrounded by shark infested water
At least I can love who I love
I'll wait for the clock to hit twelve before
I come out again and have to swim to shore

Unless I am misreading this one, it sounds like a comment on gays' struggle for acceptance. "She" is society, which apparently gives mixed signals. Full acceptance is not yet, but the speaker is confident it will. For now, "At least I can love who I love."

Acceptance is so important. I hope you will be accepted and loved for who you are and not for what others want you to be. Good to convey your feelings on this way.
