Ash Wednesday

A Poem by SquinklaPsyOps

Dear Father God

Rub your ashes on my forehead in a sign of a cross

To remind me of your Son Jesus Christ

As I repent of all the sins I have commited

I continue this period of spiritual discipline

Clean my thoughts and make me an Arch Angel

Where I promise to always push to hell all demons and lost ghosts

In the Name Of Your Son Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit

I kneel in front of You and Your Son

Amen

A religious poem very unique I must say. It is very well wrote you manage to capture what humanity should pray for . I admire you for most writers might not post a religious piece as this which tells me you are brave . This poem is a lot in a few words as a message to the rest of us perhaps do the same and for someone so young ready to take this vow you write of is a true testament not only to your writing but you as a person I hope you get what you ask for dear one and keep writing dear for people need to see this type of writing in this day and age.

Thank you for your interpretation and valuable blessing.
Now as I make my confession here I shall ask for true repentance (not from God, he's go too many things going on to worry about me), I ask repentance from my fellow writers.

Which in fact I must point out this piece of work as inspired me to do so. To start I ain't a good Catholic, my Latin is limited, and my sins are true and earned. At times I have turned away from Faith and at many times I have quoted it's philosophy and embraced it's warmth. Than again, I drink, smoke, gamble and write. But every now and than I feel like the slate can be clean, and a work like this.

This is not push of faith, brow bible beating, this is how one person can feel a love that is stronger than anything man could ever conceive or create. A love of belief. Hindu, Muslim, Buddist, Christian, or any other faith. It is the shared feeling of Love that I have not only come to respect from our author but also admire.

This. Is. Amazing. If more people chip in, including me, we can all get this message 'round! It's a great prayer.

I enjoy all your stuff. I hope we can be friends. You're an inspiration to young writers.
i love this poem! .. the Bernini is perfect .. what do i like about this expression?? it is so clean .. precise .. non- apologetic .. prophetic .. humble to the quick .. with permission i will copy and print this prayer for myself to implore before and after bed ..
what a surprise read for me .. thanks Squinky! .. and another WOW!

This free verse offering seems to be as much a prayer to the devoted narrator as it is to God, imploring herself to find the strength to propel herself through the imminent period of Lent.

The language is frank and clean, and the implication of the forthcoming period as a time of suffering and temptation is clear. The narrator offers subjugation as her side of the spiritual transaction, in return for a promise of a better time, the rebirth of Spring, with a chance to see the climbing of the summer Sun and the rebirth of God.
