When a person is trying to reach its dreams and the people around are not supportive a sif they support persons giving up,, and the best way is to keep quiet and it would be easier to achieve them by yourself.

The person on the cliff and the friendly but oblivious inventor who happens by...being so absent-minded he misses the emotional peril and instead concentrates on the physical problem at hand: How to solve the danger of standing on cliffs. He creates a wonderful flying machine, missing the suicidal intentions of the protagonist, who only is desirous to be dashed to bits on the rocks below. The protagonist is told by the inventor to wait, so the inventor can come back with their set of wings, but in the mind of the fraught main character of the piece, this is something more -a meaning in life. He could be useful in saving those in danger of falling from high places. The light pushing darkness, turning him around. He sees he has a purpose -and a brave one. He can justify putting his life at risk FOR a reason, instead of for nothing...
