Usurp the Past

Usurp the Past

A Poem by Abraxasbird
"

A world must first be destroyed, for another to be born

"

I've grown passed the cadavers of my past
Simple shadows that dance on the wall
To the drum of my heart beat,
Cast by the fire within me

My somber melancholy
Moves to join the reverie
Of a world spinning fast,
With vertigo, with laughs

I toy with a shadow,
It toys with me
In tune with the beat
I swear my intuition about these things

Is often right
I cannot continue to play these games endlessly,

I say goodbye
Old world pains have left my eyes dry

When will death come
I hear my brother reply
arrested minds everywhere you meet
Blinded by their own luminosity

And baffled by fate
I alone observed the dark take shape
Slinking in from the corners of life,
Beguiled by the sound of a heart's shake

Ringing with ancient truths,
What once was,  will be
Reclaimed; the usurped past
In the last days of me,  the last days of you

And in the last soul searching moments
Meaning will be fleeting,
Lifes warmth slipping from fingers
Peering through eternity's Window

A human fate,
Love, lust,  pain
Jubilee,  misery,
Envy,  pride,  jealousy
Every passionate experience
Confessed in a single confluence,
The glorious,  and final
Renunciation of infinity
