Gambit knew his mentor, the sharp Professor X, wanted to train him to become an extra-human powers patriot for the Institute for gifted mutants in the American Homeland and wondered about the plots of darkness making for the jars of terrorism and piracy in the new age (wow). However, he wanted to calculate who (precisely) would be in opposition-stance to such things of Earth world jardinieres (Facebook-like!).

Professor X used to be friends with a man named Eric who grew into an adult mutant of extra-powers used only for fascist and deadly schematics, naming himself Magneto. The Professor feared Magneto's arms and his reach for recruiting mutants with eschewed views of Earth world values of profit and power(s). Maybe Gambit made mark of such a character as endemic of who'd rise to layers of evil for stance-opposition to the 'fantastic' Institute for gifted mutants (Facebook-like!).

The Professor gifted Gambit a special mod-classic white auto for focus for his trek around the American Homeland and then to the United Kingdom for some holiday-seasons diplomacy cheer for the established Institute (wow). However, Gambit hadn't driven a car/vehicle in quite a time and had to reorient his chaotic psychic-energies to make himself feel more like a road-gripper for controls/sanity/securities/strength (hmmm).
