Gambit had decided to pay special attention to the robust muscularity of Earthling/American securities 'consciousness' in the post-9/11 era of transit-paranoia for terrorism-linked life destabilizations and the 'science' of self-representation strength for capitalism magic (for all!).

As a gifted mutant pupil of Professor X at the Institute, Gambit had learned to master his telekinetic art of energy-throwing and body agility as well to become a street trekking trapper of bad troubles of Earth/America; while walking through the streets of NYC, where the World Trade Center was destroyed on 9/11, when terrorists crashed hijacked passenger planes into those iconic Western Twin-Towers of hospitality-significance, he encountered the evil Mystique, one of the agents of Magneto, captain of all evil gifted mutants and someone Professor X considered an enemy/terrorist (wow).

GAMBIT: Why you here with those cases and pens with liquir mercury?

MYSTIQUE: Magneto has sent me, fool...just as that Professor sent you!
