Kylo-Ren had already betrayed his Republic-ally father (Han Solo) and began catalyzing the tedious process of some form for post-War Sith-order self-exile status for pockets of continued Sith arms of meditation and force dark-side contemplation, while the Jedi knights, rivals of Sith-order warriors/sentinels, restored forms of democracy in the Universe (wow). Kylo-Ren, once a promise-rich son of Princess Leia and potential Jedi knight, was officially a Sith master, which is what drew the fascination of another Sith.

DARTH COGNUS: I'm a Sith from the past dimension, Kylo-Ren.

KYLO: You're Sith, as am I...I've dispelled ties to my Republic-father (Han).

DARTH COGNUS: I sensed it; I came to examine post-War outcome(s).

KYLO: So you see that this Jedi-Sith war-outcome concerns our self-exile.

DARTH COGNUS: I'm to evaluate blueprints of activity in the Hoth system!

KYLO: So you seek some activity examination for potential course-changes.

DARTH COGNUS: Perhaps a warping of Planet Hoth controls detours the war.

KYLO: So you wish to make Hoth some seesaw for Jedi-Sith war cleat, eh?

DARTH COGNUS: Memories of old-Earth realm brainiacs in Hoth, for you.

KYLO: Han Solo is dead...we shall find the needed Hoth-charge, for you.

DARTH COGNUS: Good.

Darth Cognus had herself been a random wandering huntress-mercenary before breaking the Sith lord Darth Bane out of incarceration to become his apprentice and absorb the nihilism and anarchy-fascism levels of Sith consciousness, which she did! Now, through time-travel, she sought to make Hoth-system controls imagery for pre-War examination concerning Jedi-Sith contests for balances and risk/decision variance, perhaps to alter the future that placed the new-Sith Kylo-Ren as only a Sith-order self-exile status meditations-marshal for dark side charge (wow).

Hoth was indeed rich, and it was where the Jedi/allies Resistance to the Sith Empire (built with dark side sabers by Sith lords Sidious and Vader) was negotiating the best course for destroying the Sith-machine known as the Death Star. Of course, Darth Vader himself was once the Jedi-prince of prophecy, Anakin Skywalker, and would eventually catalyze the fall of Darth Sidious and the Jedi conquest of the Death Star after his own Jedi-knight son (Luke Skywalker) persuaded him to return to Jedi-defense. With all this elegiac crystal-ball charge concerning Planet Hoth and/or the entire Hoth System, and old-Earth memory-images of surefire risk/decision characterization(s), Darth Cognus wanted the accurate Hoth system time-sheets that placed new-Sith Kylo-Ren as only a Sith-order self-exile post-War chameleon. Was this a new (incomplete!) Jedi-Sith chirality for the Universe (for leviathan/uncertainty).
