October-Sweep: The Series [American Diamond]A Story by Abishai100What does make October-baseball a chord for all things Earthling-jury (and trophies)?
An October-season baseball fan-portrait for tonight's World Series game (maybe the final one of '24). Thanks so much for reading,
---- ==== AMLAN: Well, this Dodgers-Yankees sweep in '24 is sweet-revenge for '47. MARCUS: Good read, pal; the '47 one generated much post-WWII stories. AMLAN: This '24 Dodgers sweep for an LA-NY rivalry is post-9/11 era cool! MARCUS: So darn difficult it is to come back from a 3-0 deficit (even for NY). AMLAN: Both teams were great in '24; this Game-4 has me thinking revenge! MARCUS: You read that Kevin Cook novel about the '47 storyboard, yeah? AMLAN: I did, pal...if the Dodgers snatch this one 4-0, it's Selfie-age qualia. MARCUS: Facebook-like (ok). Amlan and Marcus, pals from Dartmouth, synthesized Game-4 of the '24 Series between the Dodgers and Yankees in anticipation of some storyteller's 'revenge-sweet' for the Dodgers' heartbreak in that story-rich post-WWII '47 series. Well, Amlan boasted/toasted a special Dodgers athlete's rookie-card (Betts); and Marcus brought his Xbox to Amlan's Boston-pad for the game day for pre-game synthetics (for the Ego). Marcus used to live in a Homeland-Jersey area called Haddonfield where South Jersey local cheer for the neighboring PA-state Phillies reminded him of that awful Phillies loss in the NL-Pennant to a Canadian team that generated some pretty examination-rich eyes for his patriot-search for the right Homeland teams for rivalry stories and card-collector energizer-IQ (sure). Would you believe Amlan's girlfriend, a Manhattanite, was in all-respects (and irony) a Dodgers fan, now that the team was moved out West, out of NY-State, where the LA-NY Series rivalry of '24 would make for gorgeous Selfie-age pillow-talk for all things baseball, American, secure, and simply good crazy (Facebook-like!). Amlan knew his awesome Betts trophy was the right-stuff inspiration for a (chance!) 4-0 sweep revenge-sweet languages for that devastating '47 (Brooklyn) Dodgers heartbreak that went all the way to a deciding Game-7 (damn). It was October in the West (American Homeland), and sports and Halloween made for all the right qualia for writers/fans like Amlan; and he knew Marcus would offer the right bud-complement for that game-day (night, 8 o'clock) when fans would simply/nicely think of their collection of American baseball cards and what made that democratic game such a treasure/insurance for Earthling chance (for leviathan/uncertainty). AMLAN: Tomato-and-meat for the bread of the ballpark. MARCUS: Xbox and cards for superstition synthesis for this 4-0 certainty! AMLAN: Pal, if those dandy Yankees come back from 3-0, I'll weep for Brooklyn. MARCUS: Me too (Facebook-like). "Doing well is the result of doing good. That's what capitalism is all about" (Ralph Waldo Emerson). ==== "Money is everything" (Ecclesiastes) © 2024 Abishai100 |
