American Football: Check/Borderland

Fan narrates his own '24 football preseason thoughts for cleats/comment/adjectives in a Homeland culture of TV-and-chandeliers.

An NFL season Week 1 kickoff fanfare-nod, with no specific tie to any team/town. Happy Sunday,

There I was for the Autumn thinking ahead for Halloween and hoping my anticipatory energy for the Thanksgiving-TV culture town/team of Detroit-city would make splash in the '24 American football season including the touted faves of Kansas City and San Francisco cities and a wide-pool of eager/ambitious town/teams like those of Buffalo and Houston and LA. What did I have to fear (Selfie-like)?

Of course, I had gained some acumen for American football from boyhood time of sports-synthesis in video-game play highlighting the greats of '80s-90s in the great cleats sport of throwing/running/defending. Now, I knew my love of the home-kitchen and Thanksgiving-TV food complement for football waved the fanfare-wand for Detroit-city lore, featuring a well-liked team/QB. I thought of that early class education in the game through video-games, and how it complemented my love of collecting sport trading-cards (for the Ego).

I found myself at a hostel-station in the East Coast that Autumn, writing on my laptop while enjoying Sunday-football TV commentary in the hotel-lounge and sipping Hazelnut Coffee (yum). Would Detroit's Thanksgiving-town team reach high in the playoffs? They featured a QB that appeared in an energized Super Bowl against the Goliath Patriots of Tom Brady (sure); but at that time, the star-athlete (Jared Goff) was a Ram (LA). This hostel-station pre-write/note would be the right diner-complement for my '24 season of perusing the field/flock of teams like the Eagles for American Homeland hyperbole (for the soul!).

GIRLFRIEND: Pizza for football Sunday?
ME: Better than typical wings and chips, Liz.
GIRLFRIEND: I didn't know you dabbled in vegetarianism.
ME: Only for pizza, Liz (thanx).
GIRLFRIEND: So, can the Lions take down the Eagles in the NFC's class?
ME: That is the question, Liz (Facebook-like).
GIRLFRIEND: Stat-sharpener, for docs.

Well, Detroit would have to face some nifty challenge(s) from towns like San Francisco and Philly; and if they reached the Super Bowl in fine-form for the Ego, they'd have to advance past the memory of disappointments from earlier seasons, despite all the energy of their ambitious '23 season (sure). Maybe I just didn't want to see Kansas City acquire another Lombardi for prediction-changelings. Maybe I just wanted Thanksgiving-TV culture to spread to an entire season of American football charge (for the soul!).

I decided to reflect on this great moment in the '24 Autumn and spent time near the lake by my parents' house in a Homeland-Jersey suburbia-area (Echelon); and it made me feel like I was that much closer to the chore of Thanksgiving life (for the Homeland).
