Kyiv Thick

Kyiv Thick

Fictional travel-account for a photo-journalist/writer seeking a grammar-logic of crisis-time hospitality-readings for Euro-helmeted banks.

"
A tourism-centric fable featuring a crisis-fantastic reference to the Euro-complex city of Kyiv. Thanks for reading,

I took off for the Ukraine and landed in Kyiv and thought-back on the Homeland-Jersey hostel-station (Inn-Express) where I began studying tourism/transit imagery for photo-journals and synthesis for the art of tourism in crisis-areas like Ukraine, where Russian invasion made hospitality-housing seem more like fiction (wow).

When I got to Kyiv I knew that I'd miss my world in the States, since I'd been adapted into the American Homeland luxury-imagery of transit and securities in 'confidence' arms for life itself. I lived in Chicago and hopped to O'Hare pre-flight to Ukraine.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT: Thanx for flying with us (Ukrainian).
ME: Sure...O'Hare was great to have a terminal-lounge for your airline/company.
FLIGHT ATTENDANT: Photojournalism is very hairy, no?
ME: Sure...even O'Hare seems like a crisis-face (thanx!).

Kyiv was the city I imagined through cyber-research. Its colors/textures spoke to the resilience in the crisis-zone(s) where Russian invasion (war!) made for mod-Earth sportsmanship complexity-hair for journals and adverbs for Selfie-comment (sure). Kyiv (Ukraine) had it all for me, and I quickly felt more enriched when I crossed-paths with Olga Kharlan pre-Olympics (Paris) during a Ukrainian fencing media-language in the great old city of our fare-rich Earth (sure).

MS. KHARLAN: I've been ranked #1 in women's saber multiple years, friends.
MEDIA: Seems Paris Games are in your cup for more Ukraine med, lady!
ME: Thanx for tourism spotlight in Kyiv; I flew Ukrainian (Selfie-like).

Now, I'd tried my hand at fencing at Dartmouth, and I quite liked the sport of excellent lunges and balance and swordsmanship and bound-lines of choreography and helmeted self-confidence, and Ukraine had high-hopes for Paris with Ms. Kharlan's stand for saber-rider fighting for women's athletics screens. I decided to once-more become a fencing-man, upon return West.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT: Thanx for return-flight with us (Ukraine).
ME: Wow, I learned so much; love the food on your company, lady.
FLIGHT ATTENDANT: Paris Olympics make you excited about our in-flight movie.
ME: Cool (superstitious and tasty).

This story about superstitions and crisis-time hospitality confidence-magic concerns my return to fencing, that great Shakespeare-spotlighted sport of stance and darkness. I loved fencing as a young man, and now I was a fencing writer, and I thought about writing about Ms. Kharlan, and why/how sports creates a social media 'grammar' of the art of human-physique snake-music (resilience symbolism)...Face-Touch: Ukrainian Fence.
